Upgrade Speakers in Superb II - 2009 - Elegance - 170

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone know what the size of speakers are used in the front and in the back of this car?

Also does anyone know what the output wattage is from the Columbus head unit?

At the moment, I can get the radio to just over half way (16 ish) and the speakers begin to distorte.

Rather than going down the road of fitting line out converters (line out to RCA) from the factory head unit and running these to the boot, installing an amp, and then running NEW speaker wires to each door.

I wondered if it was much easier to leave wiring in car as standard and just upgrade the speakers.

But I need to know what the output is of the head unit, because certain speakers to work properly (and not break) require a "minimum" input.

Also does anyone know where there is instructions for the removal of the Columbus head unit out of the dash.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you find out what size the speakers are on the Superb as i am looking to upgrade my car

The original poster of this thread has not visited Briskoda since the start of October 2012, so you could be waiting for a reply.

When I had my Superb MK2, the speakers were perfectly fine, the biggest issue was getting the settings right in the radio you have fitted.

Thanks for the reply, i think that i will go down the same road as Ned Brickley and fit an underseat subwoofer, i will need to look more in to it before i fit it.

Please let me know what you end up doing - the current standard speaker set-up isn't really to my liking either!

I'm also planning to overhaul mine, the factory setup is pretty lackluster, gonna change & amp the fronts, some extra soundproofing and a small rear sub, should do the job.

My compromise at the moment until I can get to a car hifi place is to adjust the tone to 25% treble, 25% mid and 90% bass.

This is the same as 0% treble, 0% mid and 65% bass, with 25% more volume...

Ned got it right with the Woofer, standard speakers are pretty good anyway and certainly good enough to be used as satilites

Think of the gratuity all that bass 6 inches off your backside will provide, turn it up will ya :giggle:

I will also upgrade my stereo in Skoda Superb. I will put a sub in the spare whel http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/25/131/201/TS-WX610A/page.html and this in the doors http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/archive/TS-A171Ci/page.html.

Did you get the pioneer 610a in the end? Just wondered if you managed to get it in the space saver wheel, and how it sounds.

I can't decide between the 610a (£170), the 710a (£270, and will fit nicely across the full width of the boot and take up just 10cm height), or this Blaupunkt "blue magic" bad boy: http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/index.php/index.html/_/reviews/subwoofers/blaupunkt-blue-magic-xlb-300-a-active-subwoofer-r1285

The Blaupunkt will take up 25cm depth in the boot, full height up to the luggage partition, and about half the width across the back of the rear seats - and I can get it for £140.

Fitting will be £60 on top. Decisions, decisions... any thoughts or advice?

I'll be keeping the stock 8-way speakers.
