Hello BRISKODA.net!

I'm not really one for introductions but I thought it best to enter into the spirit of the forum. In April my partner and I found out that we were expecting our first baby [due] in November and pretty much from the outset I knew that a bit of a change was on the cards, afterall, an Ibiza Bocanegra is hardly a family car and if I'm honest I'd started to fall out of love with the car and the brand anyway (honest!).

Fastforward to Tuesday when I signed on the dotted line to PX my Candy White MY10 Ibiza Bocanegra for a Black Magic MY11 Octavia 1.8 TSI Elegance. As much as I would have liked a vRS there were a lot of factors at work here, not least the financials, I already stand to pay more in insurance, tax etc. and an Octavia vRS would only of compounded that problem. That said, having driven the Octavia I am really impressed and am looking forward to getting back in the saddle of a manual as opposed to the Bocanegra's DSG, granted it won't be as quick but my "boy racer" days are behind me and I'm starting to look forward to driving a slightly more refined car with the added comfort that the Elegance offers, and hopefully save a bit of petrol (see money) in the process.

So here I am, I was previously a member of SeatCupra.net but the less interested I became in my Bocanegra the less interested I was in the forum. However, I'm joining here with a renewed sense of enthusiasm. I'm due to pick the Octavia up tomorrow and am starting to get quite excited, the only thing bothering me is the thought of owning another black car that never looks clean and in bright sunlight looks as though it's been attacked with a scouring pad! Anyone here got a talent for paint correction?

I picked her up yesterday; so far so good (fingers crossed!), she came with a couple of factory fitted optional extras that the dealer didn't know about and the balance of a 2 year service pack which I didn't know about, meaning I won't have to pay for a service until 2014, get in!

Only cost me a few quid more than the Bocanegra to fill up with Momentum 99, albeit with a 5p off a litre voucher and according to the Maxi DOT I'm good for 350 miles - I'm impressed! Whether I'll get that out of it remains to be seen but I'll certainly give it a good go. The Bluetooth (which I didn't know it had) is all set up with my iPhone and I've worked out how to stream music, now all I need to do is have a fiddle with the Bolero to satisfy my OCD.

Only thing that's bothering me is the colour, she's black, have I made a mistake?

Thinking about starting a topic in the Octavia II section to see what minor & subtle (not to mention easy!) mods I could do to "tart" her up a bit.

Many of us who were registered on SCN were banned after we were discovered.......... snobby chair people! Briski is a fantastic community and resource and must nicer set up in general. Welcome and enjoy
