Sonix, do you want to put how effective each bit was at rectifying the fault.

The only ones that were really effective were

DMF + Clutch (Still shakes but allot less violent)

EGR and manifold clean (Now only shakes when engine warming up to 90, doesn't shake on cold start in the morning) Once at 90 and has been for a few miles it is fine :)

Mine has never shaken form cold.

Pretty sure the DMF and clutch can be alleviated if it does it when the clutch is in or out. If when the clutch is pressed the vibrations change, I would say the DMF is at fault.

Having done a quick search, i came across two other topics from people who had the same issue with the wobbling at idle and both came back to say it is a characteristic of the newer BLT engine. I can live with it :) lol

Adjust the idle with the pedal potentiometer (slide the side of the "pedal box", the holes are slotted for adjusting/setting it). No shaking at all, warm or cold, after I did mine.

The correct way to adjust the idle on these engines is to adjust using VCDS/Diagnostics.

How high as this raised your idle?

As further back I also had shaking on idle and mine has now stopped. I have an ASZ though so there will be some differences.

Car still shaking for me :/ Going back in on tuesday to get looked at.

Does anyone know what this fault is?

That's your air conditioning.

The flap that changes from re-circulate to outide air often gets stuck or the motor fails.

A few presses of the button on and off sometimes clears it or you can run basic settings for the flap and it will be moved to it's extreme positions either way and might be enought to unstick it.

Other than that it's a replacement motor. If you have warranty they should sort this for you as it could mean the re-circulate no longer works.

I am now going to change my injector wiring loom.

Yesterday, after doing over 1000 miles at the weekend, when i cam to a stop at home, the idle went a bit lumpy.

Going to try the loom and see if it fixes anything. For £60 it is worth a shot.

Update on my car.

I noticed the other day, while being a passenger in my car, that from cold up to the engine warming up there is the occasional shudder from the engine. None at all once warmed up.

It is an occasional shudder though and not constant. Just the odd little shake.

Exact same as mine.. No shakes when warm.

It is going in tomorrow so I will keep you updated.

Cool.

It doesn't bother me too much tbh as like I say it is just the occastional little shake until it's warmed up but it would be useful to know the probable cause of it.

See mine is a bit more violent. There is movement in the engine too. Yet if i rev it, the engine doesnt move.

Strange.

Bit of an update on this guys.

Skoda cleaned my EGR Valve and Inlet manifold and it stopped it shaking when warm. The car only shakes when cold.

It is currently in the garage now and I think they have found the issue - They says the spray pattern on injector 4 needs checking :S - Hopefully this should resolve it! :)

Update.

Tests on injector 4 lead to inconclusive. They are however replacing injector 4 as it has been out as good measure.

Price?

Noticed that mine almost misfires a bit when warming up, then I get the shakes when it is warm.

Mine is fine warm - Just as it is warming up it shakes.

They have not mentioned a price so I am assuming it is covered under warranty.

This sounds like an injector.

I've had 2 go on my previous car, a E39 530d and the symptoms were slight shake at tick over, turning into vibration, worse when cold. It would go when reved or at speed Then gradually it got to the point where it was noticable through the rev range, and you could hear it beating oddly if you had the window open. I think these TDIs use the same sort of high pressure injectors as the BMW so could be that is the problem.

I think that BMW will have been a common rail engine so slightly different to this older PD engine.

It could still be an injector though.

Well after searching it seems a hugely common fault is the timing being a few degrees out.

You mean following a belt change?

I don't think my issue has anything to do with timing - If so it would be there all the time. It is only present when cold.

Skoda have fitted new injectors today - they are testing the car tomorrow, all being well I will be picking her up tomorrow.

It is common but not sure it would make the engine shake at idle but fine in every other respect. I think if the timing is out you get hesitancy and the power/torque band moves up the rev range a bit.

Phil

Well it is another avenue to explore and cheaper to fix if it is!

Picking the car up in 20 mins! Will keep you all posted!!!
