Does the Skoda Superb II have the same water ingress issue as the Mk I?

Featured Replies

I have a 2009 skoda superb and wanted to know whether the Mk II has the same water ingress issue as the older Mk I? Have Skoda changed the design of the pollen filter housing that was causing this issue? Just wanted to know the answer to this as i was wondering whether to check out the seal on the pollen filter housing myself.

Completely different, the pollen filter is now mounted inside.

Plus the fault wasn't the pollen filter anyhow. It was because the plenum drains got blocked due to poor maintenance and the water collected in there and flooded into the car.

Ahh ok so are these Plenum drains now designed correctly?

If they are anything like those on Mercedes (that I am more familiar with), they will need to be checked very frequently, especially in the Autumn.

Well they are now tucked away at each end of the plenum chamber and are difficult to see, make of that what you will.

Ok, Gizmo do you think it's advisable to check the drains for debris in it even though it's quite difficult to see or shouldn't this be an issue?

Drains are pretty big and open rather than being grommets. Just keep the corners of the scuttle clear and you should be fine.
