Do you get a valet?

Featured Replies

I don't particularly rate VW dealers highly but last two cars before my monster were VWs. Whenever I had car in for service or minor repair it was washed and valeted. It has never happened with Skoda yet. Is this general??

What sort of hourly rate or cost of the service were you paying to have that privilege?

I only leave a car at a Garage or Dealership for work or a service, already washed & polished and with pictures taken as it is parked.

(i was a car sprayer)

I tell them clearly and leave a note in the car 'not to wash the car',

even with just water, let alone some of the stuff i have seen being used to wash customers cars.

Always washed at Audi, VW and now with the Skoda, you can even take it back every Saturday for a wash and whilst you wait you can have a coffee and some breakfast. That is every week for as long as you own the car.

My last Seat was always washed when it went in for any work.

I thought it is part of Skoda UK relatively new 'National pricing and service commitment to customers' that any car in for service or repair will get a wash, leather and vacuum.

My cars certainly do at Progress Skoda in Letchworth.

My first Yeti was Washed ?

It came home with a lot of scratches.

Never again.

Is it better for the car's paintwork to use just plain warm water and a sponge, leaving chemicals out? I've read comments from both schools. From memory Skoda's handbook recommends plain water (after a soak of course), but then tries to flog washing agents in its sales brochure?

I have a 'DO NOT WASH' notice I leave on the dash for service trips - I also get the Service Receptionist to write it on the job sheet.

Of course - you'll be paying (indirectly) for the wash/valet anyhow :mmm:

Mine got washed at the service. Part of the strict, twice yearly wash routine I use.......

Ivor is booked in for his first service on 21st Sept, so I will let you know that afternoon.

I've also ordered a set of LED daylight running lights, so I will ask the staff kindly if they will fit them while they have the car.

I don't have the knowledge or the skills to start removing front bumpers etc........

It's always washed, unless I ask them not to.

My Local dealer washes cars that have been " Booked in "

I ask them not to wash mine as it's a quick sponge and jet wash

No thanks

Yep - gotta get the crud off somehow. Red Brecon mud and dung is SO difficult to remove, so it gets left in situ until I need to visit Sinclair Skoda who always get it in pristine condition inside and out.

They do under the wheel arches and carry out a thorough vacuum and dusting inside.

Well pleased not to ever have to do it myself, cos I think it's one of the most tedious jobs ever invented (even with a pressure washer) along with digging a garden!! And painting and decorating. And a few more, but can't be bothered to write them down!!

Had my Yeti in at two Skoda dealers-washed both times.

I'm with Freshacre on this.

Alex Lawrie always wash and as someone else posted Mitchells have a free wash service for all their customers every saturday - great service.

My dealer always washes the car ... never had any issues with damage.

Never had a valet though.

Mine gets it's service at Rivervale Skoda in Hove. Always valeted as was my Roomster.

Mine is not a Yeti but my dealer washes all cars that are booked in for a service... except mine I don't even need to remind them any more, but I still hang the 'do not wash' hanger on the rear view mirror and place the A4 size sign in the windscreen, just in case,

I do try to take it in just washed, but this is not always practical.

Any scratches and swirls in the paint I will do myself thanks (not there are any) I don't need to rely on the kid with a brush to do it.

Our cars get to much 'battle damage' from flying road debris to worry about swirls left by the dealers wash team (broken roads round here), so I just let them get on with it. The Yeti and the wife's Fabia fell needing a service this week and both were returned washed. Couldn't say about the inside as I've only just recently frightened them with a vacuum myself :giggle:

I know my local dealer will wash as part of a service, but the car is left with a sign hanging from the mirror like so!
