PID update?

Featured Replies

Just picked up my Elegance CitiGo. Love it.

Dealer did not have the PID ready, stating they had to update it to the new start up screen Skoda logo and that I need to return in the next few days to collect it. Does that sound right?

Also should the PID come with any accessories? Storage bag or memory cards etc?

Thanks!

glad you like it,

picked mine up on saturday WITH PID and it has the new logo

woman who sold it to me knew i liked to start new things so hadnt opened the box, included is a box with PID in with USB for plugging into computer, also voucher for Fresh maps (a sticker with a code) in the quick setup manual, you also get a case for it no memory card, (i suggest if you want to listen to music on it use a memory card as the bluetooth connection seems rather crap imo

hope this helps :)

What type of card does it take please

MicroSD SDHC i have an 8GB Sandisk from my phone

I got my car a few months ago and i had the old software pid with the new one coming out on a TPI i updated mine at my work (i work for skoda) only takes a few hours AT THE MOST. You could have updated it yourself through the manufactures website as its not manfactured through skoda.

Ive heard a few customers with Iphones have trouble with the bluetooth. Ive never had a problem with the Nokia Lumia =). The case is optional from certain dealers as it doesnt actually come with the car like the PID.

The update an be done by yourself, in fact as the unit has to be registered to an email address I think to get the update it's better that the customer does it I think.

I never got a case or box or anything , it was already in the car when I picked it up. :(

Sorry to hear, like I said mine hadn't been opened, I suppose it's upto the dealer?

Same here!

We had a PiD installed in the car on collection.

Ours has the old green Skoda logo but it is a splash screen so you could have anything you like.

When I tried to register I had to update software before it would allow the registration.

We were not given a case on delivery but the dealer gave us one a couple of weeks later when we went in for something else.

Phoned dealer today to ask for instruction book for Pid. Guess what, he was just about to phone me as he has them on his desk......suprise suprise :wall:

Got instructions and voucher code, but what exactly does the code do?

I know it get s 80% off, but what if you dont buy a map? Does the navigation just never update again and your stuck with the map thats on it?

Bit of a rip off if so, as say 6 years down the line you still have your citigo, will it be a 6 year old map?

Yep that's the way it is much like any other sat nav device

Actually you get 2 years worth of free updates for the maps including the whole of Europe if you want it (but that will fill up most of the memory). The discount applies to add-ons such as Michelin guides and speed camera databases etc.

My Audi has 7 year old map data for its navigation, its perfectly usable. The rate of road change in the UK is very low, so even now it gets me from A to B. I can't even update it to a newer map as that is the last map CD released for the non-dx based nav.

used voucher and got new maps installed. The code ONLY applies to the map and not on speedcameras etc...

So did you pay for newer maps? I downloaded new maps for free. Maybe I got a different code from you.

I installed maps on receipt of car, then got code off instruction manual. I presume you can update if any maps are out for the days whilst you voucher is valid. After that I think is what you pay for.

Stu, you get two years of free updates if you have used the voucher.

I believe the maps get updated every 3 or 4 months.

Ok CFB, thats what I understood too. Anyone know how to get speedcameras on there but not for £25?

I heard poiwarner might work or some other means?

  • 1 month later...

PID was working in car after delivery last Thursday. On Saturday last I updated the firmware...there were two updates required by mine. I backed up after each. Tried map update, but as I expected the procedure stalled at the payment stage..known issue (I'm using a Mac (OS X 10.6.8). Played with the PID on it's own battery. Synced my iPhone 4. Tried out voice commands..no problem. Switched off PID. Next day I tried to switch it on....no response...blank screen. It started with a hard reset, but stalls on the home screen. Navigon Fresh does not recognise it (no device connected), so cannot restore. Requires off button and reset button simultaneously to switch off. Have emailed Navigon Support today....awaiting response. Have advised dealer.

Anyone experienced this and can suggest solution?

Update: Navigon support responded today. As I expected the unit is bricked and cannot be restored. Agreed return to dealer and replacement.

Herewith copy of report I prepared for Navigon and for the convenience of my dealer, and in case it might be helpful to others.

I have a 16gb microSD card in mine and the sound quality is great ! better than having my iPod in the car with leads all about the car !

The Bluetooth works really well with my Blackberry for phone calls. I haven't tried it with music but I don't really need to because I use my MicroSD for music.

Email from Navigon this morning.

New map update available for PiD

Is it going to lead to more fun and games trying to get it to work?

I'll find out tomorrow
