First flat-rim damaged.

Featured Replies

Hello all

In the past week I noticed a slight loss of air from the rear right hand side tyre (I got a warning on the instrument cluster).I replenished it a couple of times. Yesterday, I gave it a thorough visual check-and found a large phillips head screw buried in the tyre to the hilt.I promptly drove to the local tyre dealer who fixed it(lucky for me I didnt have to get a new tyre) with a patch from the inside.

The point of this topic is that after reading a thread here about scratched rims in tyre dealerships , I warned the fellow to be careful about not gashing the rim.I was there with him, watching him like a hawk and sure enough-he scratched a cut in the alloy rim about an inch long!!!

Is there something wrong with the Yeti rims? Are they any different from other brands of alloy rims? Does the shop need a special adapter for the tyre removal machine? Has this happened to some of you?

Thank you.

I have had all four tyres changed, and then a fifth after a puncture, apparently the guy who changed them they say "you can't get better" was a knob.

All four of my wheels have a scratch, scrape or mark on them from his removal machine!

Kwik Fit are rubbish, mention the damage to them and they say it was on when the car came in!

Take a pcitrue of the rim before.

Take a picture afterwards.

Then they are liable for any damage.

There is no excuse for damaging a rim, it's the operator.

Ats had to supply me.with a new wheel as they had gouged large grooves out of it ....lucky I had takes pics of all four wheels before I took it in

Perhaps we should create a damage declaration form, like the car hire companies use.

Then get them to fill it out on arrival at the tyre shoppe.

That way there could be no excuse

:'( to hear about this poor workmanship; which rim design do you have by the way :wonder:
