Fao Bikers - i'm looking for a 125

Featured Replies

As some of you may know, i sold the skoda about 2 weeks ago.

My new home, which i move into in 3 weeks, although 5 miles from work, is hectic for traffic so.........

Im looking to get a motorbike, now im not fussed on a 600 or anything like that as i'd have to do my full test, so just looking for a 125cc

At the moment the bike in consideration are;

Aprillia RS125

Cagiva Mito

Honda CBR125

the first two would have to be 2nd hand whereas the 3rd i can buy new for

All great fun,the 1st two are great fun and quicker than the 3rd but more expensive to run due being 2 strokes and having to put good quaility two stroke oil in it.

the CBR is easy as it a 4 stroke,so just petrol,its a Honda so very well built and reliable.

and as you've already said you'll beable to get a brand new one which is always a great thing to do and you'll be able to get a noisy can for it!!!!!!

The Honda bike is nice..

not the fastest but it looks and sounds nice with a wicked set of brakes :D..

ya probably wouldnt need a noisey can for it tbh.. its quite fruity as it is, especially for a 125 :)

my bro has one.. tho its in a sorry state in the garage as it had an altercation with a car... :(

As has been said , the first two are two strokes which wil have been abused to within an inch of their life. If you want a bike that won't let you down then go for the CBR.

I'd also consider a 125 scooter as well. The auto transmission makes them dead easy to ride through traffic and they have a decent amount of luggage space under the seat

Speak to my mates Mark or Martin @ MTC motorcycles in Reading, they will give you good honest advice even if you don't buy a bike from them (great if you did tho' !!!)

I'd give the scooters a miss, the little wheels make for twitchy handling , IMHO they're dangerous. What about 125 Super Moto's?

More comfortable than race reps and good visability, great if an inexperienced rider as you can see over most cars.

Cagiva supercity {dont know if you can still get em new :o } has/had the same engine as the Mito ,had mine up to 90 :D , 17" rims so good selection of rubber and exellent brakes.

Sold it for a KR1S, I do like a smoker :D

Can't beat a 2 stroke Steve,my RGV is fantastic,looking to get a KR1 aswell for my collection to remind me of my mis-spent youth!!!!!

Me too, ive got a brand new set of Microns for a KR1S, 2 up one side -like the RGV , in my garage 10 years old now :eek: , kept the workshop manuals aswell{

Mmmm KR-1S, Is yours in 1 piece or has it gone bang yet :)

Miss my old RD250LC and then my RGV.....Wicked bikes, that crackle from the cans as they come on the pipe :) Just like GP bikes used to be!!

Anyway...sorry for the thread hi-jack, back to 125's:

Do you have a bike licence or passed you CBT course???? 1st must do that!

Out of the options you have picked, they will be v.expensive to insure, the 1st 2, will drink petrol and will need good quality 2-stroke oil, plus 2-strokes can be very unreliable......The Honda will be bullet proof 'cos it's a honda......

Have you considered a CG125 or the Kwak El125???? Won't set the world alight performance wise, but will be a good couple of hundred quid cheaper to insure, less nickable and the CG will just sip petrol.........

Hope that helps

Steve
