I STILL hate my car

Featured Replies

So, whilst removing the headlight guards I discover that the n/s indicator lens has fallen off, doesn't want to glue back (cyanoacrylate doesn't like bonding to chromed plastic)...

The rear n/s door has decided to stay locked most of the time...

and the rear o/s door glass has dropped AGAIN, only 5 months after rebuilding the slider mech.

I guess this weekend is going to be busy ripping into it yet again. Seriously, this car has had far more man hours into it than it deserves. I would say it's a labour of love, but we keep butting heads!

Anybody got the part numbers for both indicators on a late MkI vRS please... :(

Euro car parts do pattern parts for ~£12, I got one for mine last weekend after it departed the rest of the vehicle on the motorway.

Mine had broken due to dislodging the front bumper a while back, and it just worked lose over the months.

The Hella ones are a bit more expensive, ~£30 from the same place.

I got my indicators off ebay mate.

Got mine for around 8 quid each off ebay

Sent from my Galaxy S2 not a Crapple!

the ones I bought looked exactly the same as OEM, just no VAG symbols.

My car is completely a+

Never had a single issue with it! Reliability wise its the best car ive ever owned :)

Lucky B@$t@rd!

I don't think I've ever had anything that's given me trouble like this. Especially after having a V40 which in 170,000 miles only ever had an exhaust, two wishbones, and a clutch master cylinder (although I did replace the slave at the same time, just as a precaution). Oh, and two replacement headlights as the originals got really tired.

OK, so the crappy Renault engine died in the end, but after the life it had, I couldn't complain.

And now the other back window has gone. $h!t in a g0dd@mn sandwich! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I know how you feel. Just spent 300 on tyres only to find two of them flat the next morning.

The tyre guy showed me the inside rim of the spiders and they have oxidised in patchs so the air leaks out.

Solution another 300 to have the rims powder coated, only bought a new starter 2 months ago 200.

Sometimes it seems never ending.

Although they hold air for about two days now since the third attempt at fitting them.

Still its worth it when you get a nice quiet road at night and open it up,

BIG SMILES.

Matt

The alloys just need cleaned up with an abrasive wheel no need to refurb

Plus putting some rubber stuff on when fitting helps dunno its name but I've a set of really rough golf gti wheels for winter which were leaking, some sand paper and rubber stuff added with a brush and they're fine

You might be referring to beadsealer?

My front wheels are a bit leaky too. Just before I bought the car it would appear the wheels had a bit of a blowover, without even having been cleaned properly. I'll be looking for a temporary set of wheels so I can get my tyres off again, blast the wheels with prunus, and get them repainted.

Not sure what colour to go for with a black estate, but I'm thinking anthracite...or is that too dark?

Have a look at my build thread in the project area. Might give you an idea if dark wheels go with a black car. They were done in anthracite by the previous owner, but do look black from a distance. Hope this helps.

A couple of my L&K alloys were leaking (slowly), so I had the tyres taken off, and then I sanded off the flaky paint on the inside edge, using a wire brush thing in my cordless drill. I then painted the insides with a Hammerite metal sealer and then a layer of Hammerite Smooth Black.

Job done, no more leaks :-)

Hmm, that looks an awful lot darker than Anthracite...

Hmm, might be a bit too dark for me then...?

Sorry to hijack your thread.

Thanks for the advice about the wheels.

Iv'e always liked hammerite will look into it.

Cheers guys

Just found this new pair...

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item51a0c89ad5

Did want to go for OEM, but at this price...hard not to really.

Well I bought these (which are a Deco part btw), and yes they look close to spot on, but with a Deco logo where the Skoda logo should be, but I have to say, the fit isn't very nice.

Cool. Complete regulator units were £49 odd + vat from TPS, so no more ebay bits that break for me (which would have been £16 odd per side, but £9 per side for the correct later clip). Have her sorted again tomorrow. Yay! No more driving around with a pikey car covered in pallet wrap. (Thank the stars!!!!!)
