Broken bolt cause whistle?

Featured Replies

Hello quick question would a broken bolt on my exhaust to turbo bit cause my car to whistle under heavy boost? Like a loud whistle thanks

Maybe; it would depend on how big the resultant leak is. In any event, it's increasing the stress on the other side of the flanges on the manifold and turbo, so need sorting soon.

The whistle came on all of a sudden but ive checked for leaks and that all pipe work and I noticed a bolt broke of on my exhaust to turbo bit and I suspect it could be that? Can u buy the vplts? If so what are they called mate thanks ks

I don't have my manual handy to check if it's bolts or studs, but if you take it into a local exhaust place, they'll probably have the right size bolts to hand and sort it in 10 minutes for a few beer tokens.

Its actually broke the stud of its flush to the exhaust if u understand? There like both ends are threaded one goes into turbo other u bolt exhaust up to thabks

If it's a stud broken flush to the manifold, it needs a garage (because of getting the broken bit out) but this is way cheaper than a new manifold and turbo when the castings break.
