What fluid do people recommend?, looking for a good brand to improve things.

Its maybe me getting used to the car but its a little notchy.

Is it 2 litres or more?

Go with the genuine stuff. Cost me £5 odd a litre and you need about 2.2 litres (3 bottles).

Even with the Genuine stuff and a rebuilt gearbox ours is still a little notchy on the first couple of gear changes from cold but once the oil has got round it's nice and smooth.

If yours is notchy all the time and not just first thing on a morning then definitely worth a shot. Also worth checking the gear linkage on top of the box that there is no excessive play or movement and that all the rubbers are ok. The also worth trying to re-align the linkage but be careful of the locking pin as they are prone to breaking.
