Noticed that when the engine cover is removed (Furbie vRS) there is a rubber gater under the oil filler cap. Mine had oil in it which appered to have come from the filler cap. Is this the norm, Does the cap have to "breath" or is it faulty?............Cheers Andy :confused:

i had a leaky seal on my old ibiza 16v,changed the cap and bobs yer uncle.not sure about a breather on the fabia,but the octavia vents back to the inlet iirc,i don't think you're allowed to vent oil to atmosphere in this day and age,but i may be wrong

Have you had it serviced recently? My gaiter was dry as a bone until after an oil change. Came back from the dealer swimming in oil. Dried it out and no prob since...

Serviced last March. I've wiped it dry buy after a run oil apears on the gaiter again.......off for a new cap I think.
