TSI intake on TDI?

Featured Replies

Hey, everyone!!

I'm looking for an intake for my FL vRS TDI CR.

I've compared the engine compartment to 118TSI Golf Cabrio, and they look exactly the same... So I'm wondering, can I just get a TSI intake and bolt it straight up to my TDI?

Here's some pics of my engine bay, if it helps! :)

Like, I don't see why it shouldn't fit... But VWaG cars aren't that common here (Well, the TDI tuning side of things at least) and I would love some professional advice. ;)

Also - I heard on another forum that a "catback" exhaust system for the TDI basically doesn't change the sound, and I'd be better off with a muffler delete.

Is there any merit to this?

Cheers!

Can't edit the post - this forum has never worked properly for me. :S

118TSI is the 1.8ltr petrol unit.

What are you hoping to gain?

BTW, take a look under the forum issues section on the website, I've been having problems with this site for the last 3 weeks or so.

Some induction noise gain, and squeezing a little more out of my inevitable remap. And they look nice. :)

Bump?

Nobody? Heh.

The standard air box will be more than enough to suck in the air for a diesel and you wont really benefit from an after market intake. I cannot see any reason why one would not fit if the OE intakes are both the same on the TSi and TDi. I had an intake fitted on my old Fabia VRS 1.9 PD mk1 and then refitted the OE air box. The car ran much better with the OE air box. Id plumb for a drop in air filter like Itg or K&N etc and save yourself some money. Id spend the money saved on a decent downpipe/exhaust sytem.
