Interior lights on roof

Featured Replies

As title should the interior lights come on when the doors are opened? - i suspect so and imagine there is a problem with a connection or door switch (however door side lights come on)?

The lights on the sides of the doors do.

Cheers

Try moving the switch to the other side. Mine has decided to switch itself round for some queer reason!

Anyone any ideas where to look? are they even supposed to come on when the door is opened?

There are three settings on the roof light; always-on, always-off, and on-when-the-doors-are-open-and-for-a-little-while-afterwards-or-until-you-turn-the-ignition-on (catchy, I know ;))

If you have it set to the right setting, it should come on when the door is opened, or when you first unlock the car. From memory I think the middle setting is "always-off" so if you've tried both of the two other positions and the light doesn't work on either of them, I'd say the bulb's gone. If the fuse (fuse 4, in case you want to check anyway) had gone then the puddle lights in the doors wouldn't work either, they're all run off the same one.

how easy is it to change there bulbs? i have some sitting about and may aswell use them

The switch should be set to far right.

Do the bulbs come on when you turn them on with their buttons independently?

I not, its very easy to change bulbs. Use a plastic trim tool (or credit card if you don't have one) and pop the lens off, then just change the bulbs. Don't touch the new bulbs with your fingers.

Ah yeah, that's a good point, there's three seperate bulbs. If none of them are working with the switch in any position, could be a problem with the connector to the cluster as I think there's a single plug for all three bulbs.

Changed fuse? My interior lights stopped working completely the other day, including the boot light. Changed fuse and all back to normal :)
