Oil pressure and oil temp gauge

Featured Replies

Just dropped my car off at darkside developments for some work and to have gauges plumbed in. Gave them to the guys there along with a sandwhich plate n straight away they informed me that the central threaded but thing is too short and theyve come across this problem before. Apparently you cant buy what I need (a longer central nut thing)

Anybody any idea of a) where I can get one from or B) another way around this?

I've spent 200 on gauges and now 2 of them I can't even use :(

Can anybody help me??

Jake

200 on gauges lol, you got a pic of what the problem is?

If they have come across it before what did they do? just leave it be?

That brass thread needs to be longer apparently??

If you can not find the parts you need, a work around would be to take the oil temperature from the sump. You can get sump plug adapter which would allow you to screw in the oil temperature sensor.

For the oil pressue, if you have a VRS i have heard that there is a blanking plug on the part between the oil cooler and the oil filter. I think this is pictured in the Haynes manual too. You can remove the plug and get an adapter for the oil pressure sensor to fit there.

I have heard that the adapter plate style method of fitting gauges that you have eventually leads to oil leakage anyway.

I have the temp gauge in mine in the sump plug which I got from awesome. The oil pressure gauge runs from the orig place for the oem sensor but I have place an extension with a suitable take off in the middle and put the pressure gauge into this then the oem sensor at the end. Pics are in my thread linked in my sig. The sandwich plates tend to lead to leaking so I thought I'd give them a miss.

Don't gt me wrong but that's a sandwich plate which goes in between the oil filter.

The vrs had a canister oil filer though?

Good point made there!

Still stuck on how to do this :(

I think the sump plug will be fine for the oil temp but the pressure im stuck on :( ...

For the oil pressure I used this.

I removed the oem pressure sensor from the end of the filter area and put this in the screw the oem one into the end. Then use the oil sender you get with the gauge and screw it into the top. It's way you get the gauge to read right and the pressure light on the dash to remain working correctly.

You legend mattie

Does that exact one fit the fabia?

Pic of it fitted

I honestly cant remember if its the exact one or not. I cant remember if you need a m10 or m12 size (i think its m12) but it needs to be 50mm long with a male 1/8 pitch thread with 2 1/8 female threads (one on top and one at the end)

Getting sent straight to the garage in barnsley so they can whip them on, easier that way. If i was to do it id have to drop the fresh oil and all that
