Removing moss from rear quarter window trim

Featured Replies

Got a bit of moss build up on the top trim of the rear quarter windows on my Estate.

What's the best thing to use to kill/clean and not attack anything else?

Cheers guys...

My car sits outside and now only does low miles each year so I have the same problem. It is not only the same place as yours but also any nook that is semi hidden.

For the difficult to reach places I use washing up liquid and a worn brush on an electric toothbrush. For other places, a shammy leather with fairy or Mr M kitchen cleaner.

I just tackled this very job on ALL the door rubbers. I used a normal dinner knife from the kitchen wrapped in a rag and then som APC/degreaser. Several passes with clean portions of the rag and reapplication of the APC was followed by an old electric toothbrush.

Wouldn't say they're like new now, but much, much better.

snap will be doing this at weekend the ones at top of the doors are horrible :(

My doors seem to be fine, strangely. Well, at least the fronts are...

Can't see the rears as they're currently covered in pallet wrap, but my regulators have just turned up, so I guess that's what I'll be doing for the next couple o' hours...

Best option is a good blast with a jet washer just fly's off

yes have either used a jet washer carefully, or dare i say it...mild bleach watered down and sprayed on the area, you can get bleach pens too, not sure if you should (and if you do you should read up first to make sure there is no ill effect) but it worked for me too.

Jet wash didn't work for me. Been left too long. Needed some elbow grease. Glad I did it though. Looks way less crap.

insted of grease use some underbody coating...is basicaly shyntetic wax

Lol.... "Elbow grease" means "effort".

Toothbrush works for me.

Works really well on the edge of a sunroof. Just use some warm soapy water to dip it in.

have you tried white vinegar?

make sure you rinse it

if that does not work then try a general kitchen APC but make sure its antibacterial etc so it kills the spores

as with all cleaners it must be well rinsed after use
