oil/fluid service help clearances on vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys only had the car two week so want to service it and get it to a known state.

Wondering what specs etc and the amount in terms of required amount?

Engine oil, is fully synthetic 5w 40 ok?

What spec gear box oil?

Clutch and brake fluid? Is it all one reservoir?

Coolant?

Is there valve clearances to do?

Are 3rd party air filters ok?

Car is remapped, and has been serviced all its life.

Engine oil for the PD engines must meet 505 01 specification, it's mostly 5W40.

A list of oils that do are at the link below:

Clutch and brake fluid is the same yes.

Coolant should be G12++ (The purple stuff)

Not 100% sure on the gearbox oil. I'd phone up a dealer with your reg and get them to confirm as I've read conflicting info on that in the past.

I'd speak to your local dealer about service parts generally.

I got air filter, oil filter, sump plug and 5L Platinum oil for £36.

I get my Quantum Platinum oil here:

Five litre bottle is enough to do oil change and have some left for top up.

I also brought a one litre bottle to keep in the boot so i can top up on long journeys if needed to.

Remember to order a new sump plug at the same time. I always put a new one in when changin the oil.

hi,

i change the oil now every 10k and always get a new sump plug too, oil change is quite easy now, know what im doing. havent long changed my oil and filters and the service spanner has come on and the word oil been flashing, checked manual and states needs a change, i'll just reset the service on the system.
