Changes to Fabia from week 45

Featured Replies

From what I can tell that Fabia has got the same size badges as the Citigo. It is clear also that there is no recess at the boot.

I want that steering wheel because it's the new one but I still really like the original one same with badges

  • Think we won't see the Fabia3 until around March 2014. The Yeti and Superb will get the new badges when facelifted next year and the Roomster will get them at the same time as the Fabia.

Question. What is the difference with the gear stick?

Would think like the steering wheel, the new 'slimline' design also from the Rapid will be used.

I have posted all recent updates that I have been made awear of on a different thread.. I was awear of steering wheels being changed November but not on the fabia.. But I'll have a look into it.. that may have been left out of the e-mail (wouldn't be the first time) :)

Question. What is the difference with the gear stick?

As TP says it will be the same style as the Rapid, and as seen here on the Citigo:

The steering wheel's the same as Mrs TDIBK's Golf number. So maybe Golf MK7 has a new design of wheel and the excess parts tumble down to Skoda? I like the new badge font though. More grown up

I wouldn't be surprised for skoda to make these changes to the European market on the fabia but not on the UK spec as the UK specs always seem to differ slightly For example VRS is UK spec only where as the rest if Europe has RS.. The VRS badge being designed and created for the UK Spec only.. And like I sed I haven't been informed of these changes on the fabia at this stage.. The citigo and other modles yes just not the fabia or Octavia.. Now it may be a case that its been missed out of novembers update e-mail I've received or it may have these changes but at a much later date then the European specs

Is not Skoda Auto's use of vRS in the UK (and some other countries) something to do with Ford getting their noise out of joint re their use of RS :wonder:

Also under the impression from my own direct communication with Skoda Auto, that our often differing specifications to the rest of Europe, are down to Skoda UK, not the manufacturer themselves.

For example old tech drum brakes on the UK Fabia II, other countries use disc at the back and the regular use of larger alloys, such as the Yeti having 17" on the SE where every other country uses 16" for the equivalent Ambition.

TP

Surely that depends on what the RS stands for? Ford's use is Rally Sport. Porsche's Renn Sport. Audi have RS line. Maybe Skoda UK just wanted a different moniker?

The "V" in VRS is to replicate the symbol that sits above the S again changed by SUK.. And RS is not protected at all by Ford because it stands for rally sport which most manufactures use including the new Renault Clio RS.. But no one can use ST because that stands for Sport Technique which is painted by Ford.. This is what I am saying SUK change a lot of things for reasons I don't even know it confuses the hell outta me.. But I am just saying it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't make the same change as early as the rest of Europe but at the same time I could be wrong just the info I got in the e-mail states changes being made in November across the Skoda range including these steering wheel changes listed for the citigo but not the fabia.. I copied and pasted the e-mail on a new thread like I always do..

I Tell ye what when I'm back in Monday ill investigate and see what's happening And see if I can confirm the change on the UK spec models and if its not till later ill get a date.. A soon as I find out ill put it on here..

Many thanks for the enlightenment re the v in vRS, new explanation I've not come across before, albeit an odd thing to come up with; the idea not the explanation.

No probs.. There was a rumour that the V stood for victory as in victory RS to establish the success the fabia had in the IRC with a British driver but I am afraid it's even more bizarre then that lol.

Looks as though i caused a bit of fuss within the SUK group lol but here’s what i got from up top:

Hi Kieran,

The situation with the Fabia Steering wheels is following. Yes, there will be a new offer with new logo, but the Launch of new logo by Fabia incl. steering wheels has been postponed by factory, so we cannot communicate this change yet.

With best Regards Jiri

So basically there will be a change but due to this situation a date for this change has not yet been confirmed but as soon as I have heard a date i will keep you guys posted

Thanks again.

Although disappointing if the manufacturer is showing some interesting forthcoming updates at a motor show, for the world to see but then postpones said updates.

If I hadn't got a good price for our trade-in I would probably have done some postponing of my own, until these updates were at least confirmed or dispelled completely; now I've seen them, I will be a bit miffed not to get them :S

I know yeh well i thought it was weird they hadnt put it on the update list i was sent. well hopefuly things may change but i will keep you updated

I suppose it depends whether the show car was specifically advertised as including MY13 updates and when SUK get said updates.

I don't know if you'd have any recourse having ordered a car to say after the order (but before build) "i've seen shiny bits on a show car, I want them".

I believe the show car is to show you up and coming changes being made but dates are always a little sketchy

  • 1 month later...

Now at the end of WK46 so did these potential changes appear or not :wonder:

Suppose it might be still a little early for a WK45 Furby to appear at a dealers, certainly in the UK.

TP

Mine was eventually put back to week 46 build week (this last week I believe) and so hopefully will have her soon, always a back up if no one else finds out before hand

mine was built Friday w44. Which could be the last with the old stuff, or the first with the new.

I should receive it within 2weeks.

Funny I've noticed the spec variations on portugese Fabias. There it seems all models have disc rear brakes and the sat nav antenna even without Amundsen. Find it strange the spec is different in that respect

I will put money on there being no changes, i'm just awaiting delivery of my Monte but even the dealer wasn't aware of any changes.....

I dont think so either.

My dealer checked with Skoda Sweden and they had not heard of any changes either.

But if they added the changes i would be very happy :)
