How seriouse are they?

I have still to look at my std turbo on the car and (slim to no chance) hoping there is no cracks. If thats the case I am hoping to be able to use the casing to repair another I have got but looking at it the chances are none?

Is it even posible to find a sh ko3s with no cracks?

Also so far I cant sauce a new exhaust housing? Even the "turbo refurbers" dont seem to get them so how the hell can they refurb a turbo?

Ive emailed borg warner but had no reply yet and dont think ill get one neither.

Any help would be great.

On another note.

Can you weld to these cast casings?

I was thinking would it be possible to repair them a bit like you would fix a bumper?

Drill small hole each end of crack and open the crack up with a grinder or router thing and weld in to it?

Thoughts?

I know it would be a tricky job but sounds like only option?

So anyone know how seriouse cracks are in the turbo?

Cracks in either of the housing are bad, housing replacement require

The housing is basically bursting about, at some point, it will go pop (probably big loss of boost pressure rather than fireball, screaming, explosion scenario)

Trouble is you cant get a new turbine housing for the ko3s turbo and its pritty much imposible to get a used one with no cracks.

Ive emailed shed loads of places thas say they rebuild turbos and none can help get one.

Looks like this fella can have it all back if I cant sort it.

BorgWarner EU no reply

BorgWarner KKK no reply

CR Turbos (maker) replied + called

AET no reply

TT no reply

TD no reply

5 or 6 other turbo overhaulers from google and ebay that all say they can get spares for turbos inc housings. 3 have replied saying they cant.

CR turbos said they can try get hold of one SH but would be doutful. failing this they said its a new turbo.

Now I am sorry but how can these places say they fix turbos and not be able to get the housings? I dont understand how they can get a hot side for someone who is having a turbo sorted but they cant get me a housing.

surely they dont buy a complet turbo to hybridise when you send yours in?

Sounds crap to me I'm going to the garage today if the exhaust housing isn't cracked I will call you :-)

am hoping between yours, Grahams, and mine, one is good.

the fella I got it off said he had one but was slightly cracked. I replied asking for pics to send to CR to see if it would do. still waiting for reply. (been waiting 2 days now) I am having to chase him all time. one thing tho I not paying anymore out for this. it should of been sorted or not sold. hope we can come to an arrangement ne way, if not I want all my money back and it collecting.

A fella off gti.

He wants to have the turbo back and he knows a lad on the forum who refurbs them. He gonna use the housing to go in.

Not sure.

Waiting for a time period as if i send back amd it goes past the claim date i am screwed. Plus if not carefull I might even get back a buggered turbo and again it be too late.

I want it but want it sorting right. Cr turbos are not answering me neither. Nor is lots of other places!

COMMON ISSUE BY SOUNDS OF IT :( SOLD ONE MEGA CHEAP AS IN 70 QUID WAS MINT TOO THEN FOUND OUT THEY HAD THIS PROBLEM AND MINES 138K :(

mmm now this is a tad strange,

My std Ko3s also is cracked n Ill post pics later, guess it must be the miles?

Now the thing is, Flybikeslee and Trevor33 both have/had Hybrid k03s turbos and they both say that their turbos took the std TIP, the std k03s has a 40mm internal diam and this hybrid I got has a 45mm internal diam. CR said its theirs but didnt say what stage it is, the seller says its st 2 but is it?

Gutted there is cracks in mine tho. guess Ill not be selling it after all, on the plus side tho the shaft is solid, no play in it and spins sperfectly lol. now I need the makers to reply to my emails saying yes its pos to get the turbine housings one for the std turbo and one for the hybrid lol

sounds like it might be a ko4 hybrid in a k03s housing !! win win if it is

What you mean? A ko4 cold side and a Ko3s hot side?

Mmmm if it is then hell yea thats good. Means ill def need to sort the rods out later on.

Now on with hassling all vorg warner email addresses i can find.

these guys are the only ones so fat that have them on their site. unlike others that say they can get any part and when you email them the y cant get the housing for the K03

You really need to get to the bottom of why the turbo turbine housing has cracked in the first place ??? otherwise any replacement will prob just do the same.

My guess would be either, high EGT's caused by over fueling or cracked because the engine has been repeatedly shut down without allowing enough time for the turbo to cool down.

thats moste likely why the hybrid has done that but why has mine cracked? mine has done 112k and the only crack is the divide between the turbine and the wastegate. and a very very fine one starting. Ill get pics now.

Its never been driven hard and always cooled and warmed.

They are not the best housings tho, my Exhaust mani is spot on tho lol, no cracks there that Ive seen

This looks in the pics as a crack but its only on the outside and doesnt look like on it the flesh, I feel the casing is not as nicely made tho, just feels nore course, like the Russian T32 lol, not finnished but does the job.
