help choosing which suspension

Featured Replies

as title says ive looked through the forum and still cant decide what suspension set up to go for on my vrs, i have thought about coilovers and springs and dampers.

i do alot of driving on country roads and often have 3 passengers, so i thought the coilovers would be too bouncy.

i do want the car to sit lower but dont want to be bounced about everywhere.

any help would be appreciated cheers phil

Springs on the stock dampers seem very bouncy although coilovers are more 'firm' than bouncy mate..go for coilovers you wont regret it :)

For country roads and 4 up, I would stick with what you've got. If you want to improve the cars handling, then fit a rear arb.

thanks guys, do the rear anti roll bars make that much difference, i want to keep stock suspention but ive always had lowered cars

If you don't want coil-overs, what about Koni FSDs? If you want to lower then use Eibach springs.

Options...

1) Springs plus dampers or coilovers. For a decent kit you're looking at £500+ + fitting unless you can find a group buy including fitting.

2) Rear ARB - Yes it makes that much of a difference. It's the cheapest and easiest to fit/reverse and the single most effective change.

3) Fit slightly larger tyres. Go to 205/50 from 205/45 to improve the ride.

I wouldn't want cheap coilovers on rougher roads. Particularly because that implies a reasonable ride height unless you want to be scraping the undertray on stuff.

Though I had a scary moment a couple of months back with a large stone in the road. I'm only -25mm on Eibachs but that plus the camber properly bounced it around under the car.
