mk2 diesel vrs thuding noise

Featured Replies

Hi guys

i have recently (3 weeks) changed from a mk1 vrs to a mk2 vrs diesel 2008 reg

i have a few issues but the main one i can only discribe as a slight thuding noise at 30mph or under, when i speed up its not noticable/dissapiers

i can almost feel it through the floor and it gets louder the smoother the road is.

it does not dissapier if i coast or in gear, clutch in or out its always there,it has new discs and pads all round

iv had al wheels off to check bearings and there is no play anywhere also it makes no diference if im going in a straight line or cornering

has anybody else experienced this?

any help would be great

cheers matt

Sawtoothing tyres possibly, very common on the MK2 Octavia, especially if the car has not had a recent full 4 wheel alignment.

I had this on my Mk1 Fabia vRS. It was the rear drivers side tyre, had a small bump on it, was quite hard to notice but it was very apparent at low speeds.

sounds like the exact noise my 2008 vrs d is making, after inspecting the rear tyres my rear alignment has gone to pot. the noise on mine has steadly got worse over the month. So i need to find a place in Grampian, Fife or the lothian area to get it fixed.

thanks for taking time to reply guys, tyres it is then........ill let you know the outcome, fingers crossed it is just a tyre!

I picked up a screw today with a large head (more like a bolt head) and I felt it through the peddles, almost as a knocking which changed frequency with speed. Wound the window down and could actually hear it clicking every time the screw came round. Tyre stayed up but I pulled over and changed it anyway as didn't feel it was safe.

So in conclusion could well be a tyre issue.
