Fans faster in reverse?!

Featured Replies

Anyone else noticed that the ventilation fans run faster when in reverse than forwards? Bit of a qwirk! Or maybe my cars just bonkers!

If we had a pound everytime this was asked...

It's normal. Recirculate is activated.

It does it so that exhaust fumes aren't sucked into the car when going backwards.

Phil

They spin faster as when in recirculation mode the pollen filter is by passed.

... and we'd all be a lot fatter! No harm in asking...

Interesting - I didn't know that. So someone with an accurate ear could tell the condition of the pollen filter by the noise change...

I have awlays wondered what that was for lol

Now I know :) thanks
