Just found this in the footwell.............

Featured Replies

Just found this in the front passenger side footwell of my 2002 Octavia 1.8T 4x4 Elegance estate!

I presumed it is part of the passenger seat mechanism, but the seat appears to work normally and moves backwards / forwards / up / down and reclines etc.

Any idea where it's from??

I found one of those as well under my drivers seat. The seat works as it should so not bothered sorting it out.

Would be interesting to find out what it should do.

Most likely the support from under the seat base. There are likely several of those directly under your @rse.

It's a moaning spring, fitted between the upper and lower jaw of the female variety. once removed or it falls out they stop moaning :giggle:

Not covered by Warranty

I found this nice collection under my drivers seat back in November last year. Seat still seems to function as expected, so I ignored it.

its from the ejector seat mechanism ;)

****, I hope mine's still installed... now if somebody could just tell me which seat it is, and where the button is...

I found one of those under my drivers seat.

As far as I can tell it is some sort of assistor spring for the height adjustment. It seems to be there to help those of a portly nature to raise the seat.

In mbames's picture part number 2 seems to be the weak point, it holds the end of the spring towards the front of the seat but is really puny and the spring is very strong.

Thats it one under each seat. Not that much use.

Wont notice a diference to the operation of it.

The hook is crap metal amd as said snaps easy.

Dont worry bout it.

I've had two of those springs in my spare wheel well since i bought the car???

Prob one from each seat.

There is only ome per seat

Glad I found this thread. Just found mine when I was doing the seatbelt chime mod.lol glad it's nothing important.... will be going in the nothing important pile of car parts which may come in handy one day.

It's a helper spring that extends when the seat is adjusted backwards or forwards. If it extends when pushing the seat backwards it will give you some assistance when pulling it forwards.

Me too! Mine's been sitting in the footwell for the last few years.
