OK, ive have searched, but the question i want to ask is whats the longest anyone has gone on a 1.8t vrs engine without changing the cambelt? Do they really recommend it at 120k? (and if it eats itself before hand do they help out with costs? What am i looking at

Nope. To quote the SkodaOctavia Service Schedule:

In addition, every 60,000 km

Toothed belt for camshaft drive: replace every 180,000 km (only 1.8-ltr. petrol engines)

Hmmm, interesting. A phone call to Skoda themselves has only confused things further. Prior to sometime in 03 the recommended interval was 70k miles but sometime in 03 they changed to uprated longer life belts which can last upto 100k miles. This is what i was told just 3 minutes ago someone at Skoda UK. Apparently the chassis and engine number can confirm what part is fitted.

:eek: Mates went @ 30000miles on his 02 plate Leon....:thumbdwn: Possibly something to do with the water pump shearing.

:) I would change @ 70000miles and replace the water pump as well. First Line do a water pump with metal blades not plastic like the OE one.
