Wing mirrors & MOT

Featured Replies

Some scumbag nicked my driver's door wing mirror glass last night, and the MOT is due on Thursday.

Is it an MOT failure?

Thanks for any help.

Yes,

& more importantly the police can give a ticket or instant fine/points.

Well they did to my son when the Mirrors were kicked off on a Saturday night & he drove it home on the Sunday.

That will just have been them not liking him, and not a common thing to happen.

Yes, you must at least have the internal mirror and a drivers side mirror. The passenger side is optional, but the drivers side is a must have.

You should be able to get a mirror glass from halfords as a stop gap measure.

Thanks guys. Looks like an early trip to the shops then. By bus of course!

LOL, not at you, (sometimes it makes you want to cry.)

just the PITA of the whole situation.

i stuck on a mirror from an old style car that went onto the window edge untill we got mirrors from a scrappy.

another time when the glass was out it was a vanity mirror from a visor that went in the housing.

Its not till a mirror is not there that you know how often you use it,

or you get to understand how many never do look in them..

Actually I'm pretty sure it's "2 mirrors, one of which must be drivers side". You can just have the two side mirrors and no rear view - makes sense as you have "van/car" setup's where a rear view mirror would be a complete waste of time.

The law requires that any vehicles since August 1978 must have two mirrors, one of which must be on the offside. So if you have the driver's mirror and the interior mirror you're fine.
