jabba woudlnt remap mine with a dump to atmos on it... they basically turn round and said get it changed. .. however tihs may depend on what atmos DV you have...mine was in the intercooler hose at the front of the car and all holes were bunged up in at the orginal point....only time i notciably lost boost with mine was if i did this rreeevvvv pssshhhttt reeevvvvv ppssshhhttt revvvv psshhhhttt after about 4 times the lag was really funny you put you foot down on the 5th or 6th time and nothing nothing nothing then BANG the car shots off whoooohhaaa pssshhhhtttt lol

...and you had this AFTER your remap and it worked consistantly?

Can you post some pics of the intake please where you bunged up the hole where the DV would normally sit. :)

that would help me to cus im a novice at this lark! and i want the woooooooooooooooooooooooosh and a remap! :P

maybe i havnt made my self clear.... I NEVER HAD THIS DV AFTER MY REMAP JABBA WOULD NOT DO THE REMAP WITH THIS DV...just for the record tho it was smegging loud tee hee

Joel

c i thought they would be able to play around with ecu to make it reconise a atmos dv? or are they not THAT clever?

if they can im gutted, as i had to shell out for two new pipes and another DV...and now drive in silence

Joel

or are they not THAT clever?
The opposite is true.

if you want the psssht is a cai or similar not nearly as loud?

So in summary:

Remappers are all very clever

Atmospheric DVs DO NOT work with remapped cars

Remappers CANNOT remap your car and make it work with an atmos DV

If you want a loud wooshing noise get an ABD or Carbonio cold air intake (CAI)

Everybody clear ;)

The engine management system expects the vented air to be injected after the MAF, so all fuelling calculations etc will be wrong if you fit an atmospheric DV (this will be venting said air outside of system).

The ECU can learn within a 20% range and asjust accordingly, but the wrong fuellling will probably cause early wear of other components (cat etc).

(I think thats how it translates)

i c, but i would have thought that a re map could increase that 20% to say 40% and if u rr with a dv u would see how much% u need for the ecu to understand and then they can adjust the fueling?....if u get me!

So the moral of the story is Atmos DV + 1.8T engine (remapped or not) = Bad Idea? I havent seen any problems as yet, but maybe I'm one of those 'average drivers' that wouldn't notice the ill effects...

Forge do a DV that is part re-circ, part atmos. Works on remapped cars, GaryM tested one and it logged a fault in vagcom but was otherwise fine. Another JBS customer running pretty much every bolt-on + NOS has been running one for months now without problems. However I beleive JBS modified his like they do most DV's; When comparing boost logs my DV (JBS tuned) compared to GaryM's DV (As supplied by Forge) mine seems better at keeping actual boost pretty much exactly on requested boost.

what is this vag com i keep hering??? so jbs were happy with this half/half dv?

I think they still prefer a re-circ DV but if you really want a vent to atmosphere it works.

Read all about VAG-COM here:

http://www.ross-tech.com/

so in plain english this means what?

this is the bit that we should pay the most attention to

because of the adaptives this is unlikely to cause immediate engine problems, but over the course of time will change things like catalyst ageing, exhaust and turbo charger valve durability etc

and the fact that tuners that don't recomend them, probably do so for a reason, even though they could probably make a tidy profit from selling atmos DV'S.

has anyone wanting this god awful noise thought of the forge relocation kit?DV ends up down by the intercooler, making that sound that some love/hate.

Okay, humble pie time, engine management light is now permanently lit, having come on last night while driving around in light traffic for an hour. Have now changed back to the original dv, does disconnecting the battey reset the management light?

got access to VAG-Com?might be an idea to see whats looged on as a fault.

i'm not going to say "i told you so":rofl:
