Atmos Dump Valve and Girlfriend don't mix...

Featured Replies

Got the Forge Atmos. Dump Valve fitted last night by my mate, took about 15mins, easy peasy, could have done it myself but he is really into modding cars so wanted to see what it would be like, needless to say it sounds great, plenty of noise between gear changes as well as when takin foot off accelerator while cruisin at high-ish revs in gear, drove home with a big grin on my face. However, took girlfriend out later on in the evening, she was not impressed by this 'stupid noise' and inquired as to whether it was 'goin to do that all the time'. No pleasin some people. Honestly... :orb_no:

Stuck a rubber plug in the hole in the air intake pipe if that's what you mean, bit DIY-ish but it seems to work okay...

She'll get used to it - My missus used to complain about the quiet dumping from my Bailey re-circ valve. SHe soon got used to it and now doesnt notice it.

Mine sounds more like the noise bus brakes make (or at least I presume its the brakes) that sort of pshhhttttttt sound, apparently there are different strength springs available so that it doesnt do it so often, although I am quite happy with it at the minute, if only there was some sort of switch on the dash to turn it off when GF is in car... Now there's a niche in the market if ever I saw one!!!

mine said that after installing the carbonio CAI :D

find a GF that get wet at the noise of a atmos DV... usally foudn with large hooped gold earings and some sort of burburry... lol

oh and come do tell us... any engine lights on?? and loss in perfoamnce?? and limp mode problems??

No ill-effects at all, no warning lights on, performance is same, maybe a little mre responsive but cant be sure, no limp mode-type occurences, seems to be ever so slightly more economical, which is a bonus, overall extremely happy, btw car is completely standard apart from the dv, but am gettin a K&N replacement panel filter to do me in the mean time while I decide what route to take in terms of induction kits...

give it time Rog,if it doesn't go nto limp or log fault codes,it will still have detrimental effect on the turbo

so if he has a re map and a atmos dv and he gets a fault code or limp mode etc etc what would he need to do? is it a simple problem to sort, cus i want one when i get my remap done! (went i can be bother to drive 3 hours to jabba)

(went i can be bother to drive 3 hours to jabba)

go on... do it just think of the 3 hours back :D

tell me about it! but i also have to wait there while they fit a dv and boost controler so all day in the jabba sport waiting room :(

for ages i have been saying that atmos DV on octys in my experiance have never, made the car go into limp mode or have i had the engine light come on, etc etc

and some one else has confiremed this

what dv do u reconment then?

well if your not fussed about having a remap and you really want a loud PPPSSSHHHHTT im saying there not really anything wrong with a atmos DV... however just before i had a remap i swopped back to a Reci DV and shaved almost half a second off my 1/4 mile time.... so even tho you may not notcie the diffrence there is a diffrence there... at the end of the day its down to taste some people hate the noise of a loud DV some people like it... i miss it like crazy but woudlnt swop the power i now have for the noise...

swing and roundabouts situation really....what suits one person doesnt another...what im saying is atmos or reci doesnt really matter... its all realtive to the situation

Joel

tbh with the re map say reaching 225bhp the woosh would be what i want cus say i loose 10bhp thats still 215bhp and that will beet most chav's in cavs! lol... so the award for the best atmos dv goes to........... ??

Atmos DV on a standard octy isnt goin to cause any sort of faults at all, its not like anything different is goin on in the engine apart from the waste being sent out instead of being re-circed, there is still air flowing to the engine and because the recirc hole on the intake pipe is plugged there is no loss in pressure etc. Tell me I'm talkin cr*p but that's how I see it...

ok if u wish..........your talking Cr@p :D

but seriously if i do get a fault code or limp mode after the re map how do i get rid?
