Question about alarm and trip computer.....

Featured Replies

Hi chaps.......

1. My alarm chirps when I lock/ unlock - is this normal?

2. Can I change the speed on the trip computer screen to mph instead of km?

yes it chirps on arm/disarm.

using VCDS cable you can enable a MPH digital speedo.

Will my dealer sort that out for me?

It seems stupid looking down and seeing mph on the large dial, but kph on the digital maxi screen.....

I had the exact same query :-) makes no sense to have kph and mph

The dealer will be able to activate / deactivate the alarm chirp.

The reason you have KM's on the display is because the normal speedo only shows MPH. If you decide to travel abroad then it would be more difficult for you to gauge your speed, hence the car showing KM's on the digital display.

It is possible to change it to MPH by setting your car to a market that is in KM's. I think Australia is the one that works. Change the cars ECU from UK to Australia and the KM readout is changed to MPH (presumably as the normal speedo is already in KM's in Oz).

I'm not sure the dealer will be able /prepared to do this for you though, you will need a member with VCDS to do it for you for some beer tokens!

The chirp can be removed in the maxidot menu ATA confirm?

That same VCDS owner will also be able to enable the BT on the stereo.

Don't mind the alarm chirp to be honest.

Do we press the fob twice to deadlock?

No, once to deadlock, twice NOT to deadlock.

Strange set-up with VAG, all of the other cars I've owned it's been two presses, once for locking and alarm, second quick press for deadlocks too.

Time to RTFM me thinks :giggle:
