Yeti - Bluetooth connectivity with iPhone

Featured Replies

Hi, to what extent does the Yeti Bluetooth connectivity link with the iPhone? i.e. does any information appear on the maxi-dot/stereo display (contacts etc).

In my experience it works seamlessly and both in the maxidot and on the Bolero. It does offer voice control-which I haven't tried to master. You may well find more on the wider Briskoda thread as the bluetooth module is not yeti specific.

Yes....contacts and other phone parameters appear on the Maxidot and the phone can be controlled from the steering wheel

The contacts also appear on the radio display and can be dialed from there as well

Amundsen and Iphone work perfectly in my case

I can stream music onto the stereo and view Artist and song title. I can control from steering wheel and Amundsen.

....and on the Bolero too!

...but there again, why would I need to, as I have access to music via SD card & MDI( iPod, shuffle and memory stick)

I didn't realise you could stream music too! Excellent news! Picking up my Yeti on Sunday

I stream music (and digital radio too sometimes) quite a lot. I can't however get the artist and title to display on my maxidot. Do I have an older version of the Bluetooth module in a 2011 Elegance with a Columbus?

The iPhone 4S gave me problems with my MY11 2010 registered Elegance Yeti with GSM 11. The iPhone 4 before it was perfect.

The verdict is still out on the iPhone 5 & iOS 6 at the moment, as I haven't received enough calls when I've been in the car to say that it is fine, but the iphone 4S would not redirect incoming calls to the car, out outgoing calls were fine. This was an iPhone problem.

It streams beautifully, but NO information is displayed anywhere, apart from on the the iPhone. You can't control BT audio through the car whatsoever, so need access to the iPhone whilst moving (not recommended).

Rockhopper,

My 4s has been fine-although I haven't tried streaming from it but phone both in and out is good. It hasn't changed since IOS6. So it may have been a quirk of your 4s -or may be a quirk of mine.

You must have a massive pocket then or a bigger iPhone than Apple currently produce? :)

My 32gb memory stick or 160gb iPod Classic live in the glove box permanently connected via the MDI, unless I'm adding to them!

OK...I take your point....you have a much larger music collection as my whole selection fits on a 32GB Iphone....

iPhone 5 with Amundsen+ works absolutely fine. Address book and call lists sync up and the call quality is clear. If you use Siri, it can also be used through the speakers.

I've not used streaming too much though (other than to check it worked) as I've got a 16GB SD card in there with a pretty wide selection of music for when the radio is too dull.

I think it was iOS 5.x and my phone. So far the 5 has been fine apart from once when I discovered it wasn't connected, but at was because I was sitting in the car, switched ignition on, then off, which gets the sat nav fired up, and then sat there for a while. Then started the car and drive off. Usually the phone connects and stays connected, but didn't that day. otherwise its been fine so far.

How do you stream music via BT? I can see the "BT Stream" option on the stereo touchscreen, but it seems to be "greyed out".

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious but have you paired your phone?

Haha nothing wrong with starting with the obvious! Yep, phone paired....able to make calls etc.

I've done a bit of Googling and it seems that it may not be possible as my car is a '59 plate

OK. Seems odd that it's paired and appears as an option but not available.

Mind you the beast seems fairly complex and speaking to it via VCDS can sometimes get things working.

Have you thought about contacting a VCDS member?

Yeah I'll look at doing that if I can't figure it out in the next week.....cheers for the advice

Other than this, VERY happy after day one of my Yeti ownership!

I think it may only work if you set the music playing first then the BT streaming may kick in.

I'll go and have another fiddle
