Uprated exhaust needed on Hybrid PD150?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Im going Hybrid soon (turbo being built at the moment) etc, and wondering if the standard exhaust will flow OK?

Im hoping the PD150 hybrid will manage 220bhp easily on stock injectors? But just had second thoughts on the exhaust? I'm wanting to keep it pretty standard looking, so if its noise alone, then i'll pass!

Proof of claims would be appreciated - I know in theory a 2.5" bore exhaust will flow more air, but is it needed?

Many Thanks,

Mike

Standard exhaust will be fine.

It's not very restrictive :)

For 220bhp it will be fine!

Shouldnt cause you any issues, if you feel it will, de-cat and a mufflerectomy should be adequate with not to much niose id imagine!

A mate of mine who is running 190 bhp got his back box smoking after giving it some serious serious abuse on some mountain roads for several hours :/ It may not have been due to that but was the only logical explanation :/

I seem to remember another member gained just 1.x BHP when a full exhaust was fitted after a hybrid. Doesn't really seem worth it IMO :)

Perfect, thanks guys - And it keeps it looking standard... ;)

0.6 actually Dan ;)

Mine did about 0.5 bhp only just a stage one map, but I would get a decat tho.

That was from a full decat on a hybrid. But as said you'll gain in mid range from a decat, help the turbo spool up. Personally I'd just stick pipers decat pipe on with the included reducer and job done.

From a stock decated system to a piper 2.5" turbo back. I noticed no power difference at all.

On a hybrid150 turbo.

So the decat will help spool possibly, but little else. Thanks guys - That few hundred £££ can go in to the mapping fund!

Ahh I thought it was you Josh, didn't want to mention a name incase I was wrong :)

Worth doing decat for a little more efficiency, especially if you are going mapping the new turbo in at a later point. :) That's relatively inexpensive, and will not increase noise - Its removing the backbox which increases the noise the most.

220bhp is possible. I ran this with an Allard VT2, a hybrid PD150 turbo. My only exhaust mod then was a decat too.

Just watch the turbo doesn't over boost with a decat.

Other advantage if a decat is it MIGHT lower EGT. But someone with a EGT sensor would have to answer this.

The turbo shouldnt have any issues if its mapped for the decat. But as covered, no exhaust mods really needed tbh.

Yeah N75 will need to be tweaked to control the over boost.

To keep this thread current, a decat is advised to lower EGT's and EMP's from the exhaust. I think i'll be going for the Piper de cat to standard rear section.
