Buying a pre FL Octavia II ? Check the sills

Featured Replies

Been mentioned before, but thought this pic would prove useful to anyone buying a pre FL Octy.

Stopped in at a local car auction last week and clocked this.

The N/S sill didn't look too bad, but this is a picture of the front of the O/S.

The picture clearly shows where the stone guard finish stops and starts, although this one looks like it might have had a botch job done to hide rust at somepoint, only for it to come though again.

The car didn't sell and was rough to say the least.

Worst example I've seen and the tyre is even on the wrong way too :-(

both my sills have had rust spots , i rubbed the blemishes down and painted them with a touchup pen ,im going to get both sides done at a body shop and get the stone chip guard right to the top.

one thing to add though i work at a mine where we mine road salt and store it on site,my car has to endure yearly what people hate in the winter getting on there wheels. ive never had a car yet that hasnt rusted at some point!
