Fixed it was the relay that controls the canbus light system

The relay wasn't pluged in fully

By any chance did you note the relay number? Or anyone know it for the rear lights? Cheers

Where is this Relay located.

Digging this topic up again. Where and which relay controls the rear lights? Mine currently aren't working and it doesn't look like a fuse issue

The relay being referred to earlier in this thread is actually a control unit for bulb failure warning, housed in a (wide) relay-like box. It spanned positions 13 and 14 of the mk1 relay panel. It had no connection to the CAN network and there isn't such a thing as the 'canbus light system' in a mk1 Fabia.

It featured on mk1 Fabia, but I have a feeling the function would have been incorporated into another control unit such as the BCM by the time a 2012 mk2 Fabia was built @Hogstar

Edit: a quick look at the earliest mk2 circuits suggests it wasn't a separate control unit even at launch of the mk2.

Does your car give bulb failure warnings?

Which rear lights aren't working? Have you checked the bulbs?

Hi Pete,

Thanks so much for the info!

I'm not getting any bulb failure warnings on dash.

And the exact bits that aren't working are: the tail lights, the side lights and the dashboard lights. Usually when I switch the sidelights or headlights on the dashboard lights up and the headunit goes into 'darkmode'. But not anymore.

Just headlights work fine once the switch is all the way on. Indicators, brake lights, fog lights, interior lights all work fine!

Very strange and I don't know where to start!

I think it may be best to try another light switch if you can find a cheap secondhand one with exactly the same part number as yours.

Well after the new one stopped working suddenly I replaced the old one bag and that doesn't work 😞 will try and see if I can't find a cheap replacement one online just in case. Thanks so much for the advice. If anything else comes to mind please do let me know
