vRS flywheel - is it too heavy?

Featured Replies

I can't get away from the feeling that something's wrong with my car. Either that, or the standard flywheel is just far too heavy.

Shifting from 1st to 2nd at about 35-40 MPH allows the engine to keep on pushing like crazy. However at anything below 30 mph, it feels like the engine is being held back, even when the turbo spools up. There's thrust, but not as much as I'd like.

Similarly, when taking my foot off the accelerator, the revs seem to take ages to die down. Or am I just getting used to the performance?

Standard flywheel is double mass....allows you to crawl along in traffic without using accelerator.

The ABD Sach uprated clutch was single mass...I think..and allowed the car to respond better although it was slightly less compliant in traffic....kangarooing effect...perhaps.

Numerous peeps have had changed to this clutch and will be able to give a much better view on this.

Well I just changed to an uprated dual mass...

I like the fact once it's spinning it holds some energy. The lighter fly will feel quicker but really not by much I would'nt of thought.

There are plenty of other issues like lightend pulleys etc that will all help, or hinder.
