I know I'm digging up an old thread, but did you get this answered and sorted?

Is this the right part for a BKD engine?

Anyone know the part number/price for a petrol one?

Pre F/L Petrol VRS part is 1Z0 920 941 C

Does anyone happen to know the part number for a FL 1.6 CR TDI?

Thanks Eddie! If I do manage to get one I'll give you a shout regarding fitting! :D

Eddie -- have you ever had a go at fitting a full colour maxidot to a pre-FL Octy 2? Yeah, another idea floating around in my head!

Mike

I like that idea. I'm jumping on the bandwagon

Mike

do you mean a facelift cluster in a pre-facelift

I have an idea i would like to try, but need a car to try it on

Yes, this is the right number for a PD engine (1.9 or 2.0) with standard dials. VRS dials have the suffix E.

Thanks. Apart from the clocks, what's else is needed (apart from a guru with the appropriate technology)?

Do you know if this fits the FL?

No, preFL and FL clusters work on different protocols.

Rubbish :(

Any idea what he FL Part number is Mike? or Eddie?

for a TSI petrol Facelift Vrs

1Z0 920 943 R

Thank you Eddie :)

It it's rubbish how come a Columbus needs to be coded for BAP protocol to work with the new FL maxidots and BAP to be disabled for preFL? The difference is because the clusters talk in different languages and a Columbus needs to be told what language to talk to the dash pod in. A Columbus coded for BAP in a preFL car will not show any information in maxidot as the head unit will not be able to communicate with the dash. Same head unit, different protocol of instrument cluster.

It's all a mine field.

I'd like to upgrade the Bolero to a Columbus at some point, you seem well educated in this subject, would you recommend both at the same time to save coding?

I think he meant 'Rubbish' as in "that's bad news for me" as opposed to 'Rubbish' as in "you're talking a load of rubbish".

Yeah, I've realised that having read and re-read it! Sorry Gobsheene if I've taken your post in the wrong light!

Mike

No worries Mike! It wasn't taken the wrong way :)
