AC condensers

Featured Replies

On my octavia 1.9d 2006 the condenser is leaking. It is a "Denso" type , with the drier pack non replaceable. the holder for an element (?) is built into the condenser. There is a large plastic plug with a hex socket on the top n/s of condenser which is leaking round the rim. I assume that is where the element fits.?

Has anyone every replaced it or had to take it out?. Is it replaceable, If so where did you get it ?

My local Skoda dealer parts diagram only shows the condenser with a removable drier pack which bolts on to the side of the condenser. It makes me wonder if it has been replaced at some time with a non standard condenser, (had it for three years and until recently ac worked OK).

Can anyone tell me if there were two types fitted

ANY advice would help.

I wonder if I said my Octy was a VRS would I be inundated with replies ?

Possibly no-one knows the answer - your dealer should be able to lookup in ETKA using your vin which should tell them what your car was built with.

Have you searched to see if there is a Denso office in the UK or dealer that you can ask about parts. Also have you tried one of the local aircon specialists who may be able to advise you better, given that is their area of expertise.

If you ring your dealer and give them your reg, they will tell you which one is fitted

Hi Paul,

Thanks for replying. My nearest Skoda dealer is 50 miles away and there are no local aircon specialists nearset 70 miles. The skoda dealer is trying to sell me a replacement drier pack which will not fit, nowhere for it to fit to. The ELSA website mentions Denso condendsers , in the section on how to fit drier packs, only saying

  • "With condensers “Denso” the container is a component part with the dessicator of the condenser and cannot be replaced individually."

  • As it is the plastic plug on the top of the condenser that is leaking I was hoping that I could replace the plug rather than the whole condenser. The poor Denso european website doesn't seem to give any dealers (american ones only). But it says its products are supplied to motor manufactureers world wide.

  • According to the reg no. the condenser has a drier pack and is not a Denso so I will probally have to change the condenser all for the sake of a 2" plastic plug.

  • Hi bluevrs2
  • Thanks also for replying , I know which one is fitted but the dealer does'nt, So its either been changed (not that I know of) or the schematics are wrong regarding vin no. , (not unknown ).

  • Oh for the good old days when you went to a dealer and he looked up a book and you pointed out what you wanted and that was what you got, not like todays, if the computer says its

  • that then thats what you got regardless.

  • I think I'll try another dealer.

  • 11 years later...

Once you find the replacement element it should come with ew seals for the cap.

if you do find the element please post, I’m looking for one my self
