wall plug to cig lighter

Featured Replies

Hi, is it possible to plug a small house stereo into a car cigarette lighter socket, via a converter or transformer of some kind. I have checked out online but nothing pops up.

Just check how much power you require then get one slightly higher wattage to account for peak loads etc.

Also if you run something requiring a lot of power it will drain the battery pretty quickly. The higher powered ones (150w or more) won't have a cigarette lighter socket on but battery clips. This is because a cigarette lighter socket can only supply about 150w.

Right i see, is only a small stereo but not sure how much power it pulls. Maybe I'll just use my headphones instead

Is there a reason you don't want to use your headunit?

Its just a work van with no radio, using it for a month and wanted a cheap solution

Lol maybe. But as long as its not full volume what's the problem? But , like you said, its for the other thread

When I had my first car (Morris Marina - Rotbox Edition) I used a portable stereo (Brixton Suitcase type thing). It had a DC-input jack on the back......... ;)

Yeh what about a rechargable speaker dock or bluetooth speaker?

I saw currys selling a Logitech Bluetooth mini boombox for £32 and the sound was really good.
