new console bushes, what will I notice?

Featured Replies

Just had a call from the garage sayin my console bushes are totally knacked beyond belief. There replacing them, and said ill notice a big difference when done how will I notice this difference? Cornering acceleration or just over all feel. They said my front wheels where moving 3 inch when breaking.

Steering will feel a lot more precise for a start.

Will squirm less when braking too.

i didnt feel any difference with the seat ones

Mine were shot when replaced to.

Being pretty low it stopped almost all scrubbing when going round corners hard, it's now much more solid round corners and as already said much better under braking. :)

Lookin forward to gettin it back later. 150 all in, sounded pritty good too

Hopefully he replaced them with the 4 prong type as opposed

to the factory fitted 2 prong type again or you'll be doing them again in a years time.

If it's not been done yet specify Octavia 2 bushes as they are the 4 prong type.

I don't think the main dealer supplies the older 2 prong bushes any more for the Fabia

but plenty of motor factors still stock the 2 prong ones so if they are pattern parts

you'll be replacing them again before you know it. He should also check the wheel alignment

and adjust as necessary after the new ones are on.

Never knew that about the prong. Will I be able to tell with lookin at them? Jobs bein done as we speak

Yes, the 4 spoke type have 4 rubber arms going from the centre to the edge.

The 2 prongs only have the pair. Should be easy enough to see if you can get under the car.

This is a 4 prong. or 4 web as some call it.

Cheers for that mate, good info!

I had my front wishbone rear bushes done to the solid SEAT Cupra ones for longevity - felt very little difference, perhaps a bit harsher on rough surfaces and more tramlining.

Picked the car up at tea time and they are the four prong bushes, also it feels much better, tighter feel to steering and feels better under breaking. Really happy with results and no more anoyin squeek!

Just had mine done with the recommended updated solid bushes, as above better steering no more squeaks bangs or pops. :). I am very happy with it. Cost me £135 from a good local Skoda specialist.
