Hi all I thought it best to start a build thread as quite a bit has happened since purchasing my octy in the summer of 2011. I wanted a very good example with full history and a few extras. And so after many weekends and hundreds of miles traveling to view cars I found this in Colchester.

Totally standard with full main dealer service history. 67k on the clock the drive home was awesome after not owning a VRS since 2008. This is now my fourth. Let the modding begin!

The First mod was to colour code the front chrome grill.

This was achieved using Plastidip donated by Porkballs after meeting up at PREPT our local German car meet at Brands Hatch.I was impressed at the job he had done with his grill and was delighted when he offered me the can from his boot. Simple to apply. Just take grill apart this can be a bit fiddly and care must be taken so as not to break anything. Then clean and spray on a few coats leaving 20 mins curing time in between coats and job done. Cheers for the donation Porkballs.

Ran the car about for a couple of weeks to make sure she was as good as first impressions. Absolutely fantastic only fault being slight knocking from front end. So after some Brisky research and a poke around underneath the RARB sleeves had deteriorated causing the noise. Time for Golf R32 FARB and as suggested Neuspeed 28mm RARB. Wow ! What a transformation.

Next full service time as it was due. Off to my local Skoda specialist Whitehill of Meopham. Fresh oil,plugs and filters. The technician suggested breather top hose was past it's best and better to get silicone replacements for this and the lower one under inlet. This I did and not a moment too soon as the old rubber was all squishy and fell apart upon removal.

The previous owner had fitted an after market Alpine single din head unit. However the standard speakers were still there and he had added some 6x9's to the rear shelf! Yuk!

Keeping the Head unit I replaced the stock speakers with Alpine type R components up front. And some type R coaxes in the rear. All in stock locations and original grills fitted over. Bass was taken care of by an Alpine Type R 10 inch Sub in a sealed box in the boot.And amplified by an Alpine PDX M6 mono amp. Front components were amplified by an Orion cobalt 2 channel. A remarkable amp for the money. The rear coaxe speakers run from the head unit as only needed for rear fill. Result Awesome crystal clear sound with plenty of punch ! Another addition was a Brodit dash mount for my IPhone. This keeps my phone mounted securely and using an Alpine lead from the HU gives full iPhone charging and audio functionality.

After exploring the handling which produced a massive grin on my face my thoughts turned to new rubber. The standard 17 inch spiders although in reasonable condition were not up to my standard. I entrusted Lepsons of Gillingham to carry out an Alloy refurbishment. The wheels were stripped and one was straightened due to a slight buckle. A couple of curb marks on the rims were taken care of. And then they were finished in two tone chrome and black chrome. My choice of rubber was Vredenstein Ultrac Sessanta in 225/45/17 which offer excellent all round performance.The body work was also treated to an application of poorboys products applied by hand. Black Hole glaze,poorboys sealant and then topped with natty wax. Black always looks awesome !
