I am very jealous with my pikey columbus I really want one of these now!!!! is there a special trim for these from skoda or is it a Columbus fascia surround dash trim thing?

it fit straight into my Superb II with no facia needed

i believe the facias (if needed) are £10 - £15

Darn you Superb owners with your jammy dash trims when I upgraded from Bolero to Columbus in FL Octy I needed to change it and as it was the brushed alloy effect one it wasnt £15 odd quid like the flat silver one was 70 odd! Was a nasty surprise sneaky Skoda stealth tax on it. Looks like a Columbus trim in pic above I think/hope as I already have one of those! (and I have a flat silver one too)

Here is mine surround looks the same to me

Yep, it is columbus/amundsen trim. I went from bolero to kenwood and bought me an amundsen trim and it fits right in.

So it wouldwork with my 69 euro columbus trim :D bonus! I have the flat silver one too anda Bolero brushed alloy one still here .....and a Bolero, I seem to be amassing a VAG ICE collection.

Apparently there is now only 1 unit remaining

Pm please ....

Hi all,

I've bought one of these (not from this chap) thinking this was a simple plug and play and when fitting it (into my Fabia II Estate) i was frustrated to find that the unit does not turn on. There is definitely power to the unit as it takes and ejects disc perfectly fine and the red LED flashes (cannot find any trouble shooting associated to this in the manual). However when i press the power on button, nothing happens. I've tried pressing the rest button but nothing happens (not sure if i have to hold it for a set period of time though) and i've tried the unit with the ignition off, on and with the engine running and nothing changes.

If anyone else has this problem and manages to find a fix, i'd very much appreciate it if you could give me some advice. Or if anyone can think of the issue i'd also welcome any advice. Does the unit need a specific wiring loom for each car make or does it use the same one to fit into Skoda, VW and Seat? (perhaps i have a VW one). I've tried contacting Kenwood and to be honest they're not much help and don't even seem to read my mail properly. Help ........ Please

Thanks

although these were VW models mine went straight in and worked straight away

although after removing the old unit i had dislodged one of the conectors that go into the big block that fits into the units loom

recheck that everything is in its place and it should work

Is it a fairly straightforward job fitting the Kenwood (I don't really do DIY) or should I take it to my local Skoda dealership / local auto electrician?

it was very simple

the problem i had was there was an aftermarket handsfree kit fitted in mine that was like spaghetti junction so i got confused

i took it to my mate who removed the spaghetti from the car

it was then a simple plug and play

the only issue would be if you unplugged the airbag light

it was simple in mine to pop the warning badge out of the trim but leave the wire on so no error message

because my mate had traced the wires from the old handsfree kit he had removed the windscreen pillar trims so i run the wires for the gps antenna and the mic up there

Hi again. Upon further investigation(and some useless mails from Kenwood) i think i may have found the problem. I have a feeling that my chap (not the guy selling the one on this thread!) supplied the unit with the incorrect wiring loom from what i can see in the wiring diagram in the instruction manual.

The wires in Connector B seem to match up (Purple, Grey, White and Green and the same with a black stripe) however connector A is completely different as follows:

A1= Grey single wire (coiled with A3)

A2= Blue single wire

A3= White (coiled with A1)

A4= Blank

A5= Blank

A6= Two yellow wires

A7= Two black wires

A8= Blank

If any of you guys that purchased a unit for the guy on here has a little time i'd very much appreciate it if you could simply check to see if your wiring setup is different to mine and replicates what is in the installation manual. (Not sure what my chances are of getting a refund though :-( )

Thanks very much in advance.

Now that you have all replaced your Bolero´s for this Kenwood, does anyone have a CHEAP Bolero up for sale? :) (PM!)

Does anyone know the latest version number of the Garmin map software re the Kenwood DNX520VBT?

Unbelievable! The kenwood unit I bought for my wife's vw touran less than a month ago is getting removed next Wednesday 21/11 as my wife is saying it is too complicated!! And wants her old single din head unit back! :(

I think it's a great piece of kit. Does everything you want from a head unit.

If anyone is interested in buying one of these DNX520VBT pm me.

I will be posting up in the for sale section at the weekend with pictures though.

Will one of these fit in a MK1 Fabia?
