Rear screen washer problems

Featured Replies

I am hoping someone could shed some light on my current niggle.

I have a problem with my rear washer, it suddenly stopped working. I removed the boot trim and discovered the pipe had become detached. I reset it and thought that would solve the problem, however it still won't wash the screen. Afterwards the boot release stopped working and I replaced the fuse and motor itself.

I read somewhere that there are 3 connections for the washer line but cannot seem to locate them. I have rechecked the boot lid connection, but is still connected and doesn't seem to be loose.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do to resolve it.

Many thanks.

One in engine bay against firewall, sonetimes if its popped in one place it will pop another. Luckily mine was just the engine bay one.

There's another hose connection at the back of the engine bay to check, and one somewhere down the side of the passenger side rear seat IIRC. I never found this last one, but it turned out not to be that anyway on ours.

On ours, a bit of debris/slime was stuck inside the rear washer jet itself. May be the same on your car: The back pressure from trying to pump against this has caused the hose to pop off its connection, but the blockage is still in there so still no flow when you've put the hose back on.

If I remember correctly, the nozzle/jet bit just pulls out from the outside of the car with the little plastic cover swung aside first, then you can find some very fine wire or something to poke back in to clear it over the kitchen sink.

Don't try to clear it in-situ, or the debris will just come back and clog it up again.

Ok, thanks peeps. Will go have a butchers and see it that helps. If not, it off to the garage. Gulp!

fill your washer tank and then get someone to pump it you will see it behing the air box on the fire wall if its the one in the engine bay i also believe there is a conection behind the passenger front wheel arch lining but if you keep pumping the screen wash if it is this one you will get it leaking out of the lining saves taking it off for nothing
