Irritating reflection of speedo binnacle in windscreen.

Featured Replies

Have had new Roomster now for just over a month and am constantly irritated by the reflection in

the windscreen of the peaked curved top of the instrument binnacle, exaggerated by bright sunlight

presumably due to the rake of the screen. My facia is all black. Have other Roomster owners noticed this and any advice as to how to minimise/overcome the problem ????

Never noticed. Remember 2010 FL Roomsters have the darkest blackest facia ever fit on a car

2006 series had some luxurious silver frames here and there. If you keep on complaining, try Citroen C3 or any Ford (Focus, Fiesta...) for some...enlightenment :giggle:

More seriously, you could try with some mat black fabric, and some velcro spots. More radically, you could have the plastic bit painted with that wonderful rubber-touch mat paint.

Not noticed this in my Roomster. Does it make a difference if you have the roof blinds open/closed? I have seen different reflections in different lighting conditions with the blinds open and closed.

I usually keep the blinds closed but do not think it makes much difference.Problem is due in part to rake of screen and

possible semi sheen of dash top caused by dealer valeting with silicone polish from new and degreasing not helping.

I have covered the top of the dash with matt black velour cut to shape up to the passenger airbag and held in place

with small pieces of black double sided tape, a difficult job to do as the speedo binnacle being curved means this has to be done in two pieces.

It is not terribly pretty but completely overcomes the problem and makes the car much more pleasant to drive.

Hadn't noticed till I read this thread, now I see it all the time.

The same problem in aircraft is overcome with matt black paint.

Never noticed in my Dads Fabia, I guess once the effect of the dealer applied dash cleaner has worn off all will be good. The dash is meant to be matt black, as it was when it left the factory. Any shine will be as a result of using the truely horrid shiney dash cleaner.

Mines an 08 and does have this trait. All I can say is that I have got used to it, even though I still notice it.

In the overall scheme of things it isn't ideal but I can live with it.
