vRS Anthracite Alloys

Featured Replies

Saw a picture on the Briskoda homepage today of a red Fabia with standard alloys but reconditioned in anthracite. They look really cool and I'm just wondering if anyone knew how you would go about doing it?

Buy some stuff and paint them at home or go to your local body shops and ask them for a price for a refurb in the colour you want. Its not that difficult :S

I had mine done by the wheel specialist for about £300 when I had them refurbed, they just had the car from 9-5 and sorted them out completely

Cool thanks. Found a wheel specialist in Newcastle, quoted me £288. Anybody know any good places in the North East or North Yorkshire?

I say do them yourself.

I've done 3 sets now and it's super satisfying and really not that difficult.

I guess the toss up is quality v cost.

If you're happy to pay someone 3 times what you could do them yourself for (and think it'll be 3 times the quality) go that route.

If you wanna get your hands dirty, don't mind a potential lower quality finish and want a feel warm fuzzy inside every time you see them go DIY.

Hmm....I'm all about saving money so DIY does sound tempting. What would the best process be to do them yourself?

Shop around I say, I got mine done in a similar shade to anthracite at

a motorcycle parts fabricator and powdercoaters. I paid £40 per wheel and

he did a cracking job on them. £160 for the set of 4. Bargain...

I like the idea of DIY, but don't quite have the amount of spare time needed to do them unfortunately! So I think a refurb or body shop would be best for me I think. Thanks for all the posts though, much appreciated. I'll shop around the North East and North Yorkshire and find a good deal, and share it with you when it happens!

Sorry to dig this thread up but do you know the paint/colour code for these wheels?

Many thanks

Ilmor

To be honest, no it was a fairly rough and ready place with

only a few set colours available. He had a light grey, and a dark grey.

The sparkle is in the laquer. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

whats the quality like on 'the wheel specialist' wheels after a while? ive heard varying reports

These are in Hartlepool http://www.ppcalloy.co.uk/ £180 up to 17inch and including tyres fitted and balanced

I had some done for £130 by a place in chesterfield, they are a different colour but still look pretty much the same.. Manganese Gloss or something like that?
