Warranty claim on badges

Featured Replies

Ok, so my supplying dealer declined to change the badges and my local dealer claimed that they couldn't claim for them - something about no way of putting it on the system (flannel methinks)

Anyhow, I'm sure someone on here who was looking at the new style badges was guided to buy them, and the old ones, claim warranty reimbursement on the old ones then return then (hence funding the new ones). Not site if this would work but I bought my (old style) badges to get put on the car rather than arguing with the dealer(s) with a view from claiming back from SUK (as advised by local dealer that would be best policy). SUK haven't replied though, after several weeks.

Anyone here had badges replaced inder warranty? I'd be grateful to know, so I can point at past treatment of others and ask for an explanation as to why I didn't get the same. If anyone paid for them and got reimbursed I'd be particularly interested as to how you went about it.

Ta in advance.......

The so called 'white-worm' that the Skoda bonnet and boot badges suffer from is a well known and well documented issue.

Many of us on here have had them replaced under warranty, me included.

Your delaer is wrong.

Ring Skoda UK on 08457 745745 (option 4) and complain.

I never got mine replaced after asking, had to end up buying them my self, before i fitteed them i sealed them with nanolex and the car gets sealed at least once a month and the white worm has set in again its a disgrace.

I had two setts of wheel badges replaced and one rear, no problem, I have the new ones all round, I have yet to see any 11 plate Skoda without at least one badge milky

Mine suffering now I'm out of warranty.

Got mine replaced on my old car under warrenty.skoda superb.

All mine are neing replaced under warranty next Thursday.

Yes. I had white worm on bonnet and boot badges. Dealer changed them no probs.

Boot badge changed twice under warranty for white worm on our Yeti.

No hassle as dealer knew it is a common issue

  • 6 months later...

Getting my bonnet, boot and all four wheel centres replaced under warranty next month (car goes in for first MOT and brake fluid change, so getting this done at same time).

Looking at the posts - some say its a recall (by the dealer) and some have never heard of it.

Based on the VOSA website - i assume its NOT a recall -

but may have done under warranty.

But there is no harm u asking and acting unsure and pushed for what u think is a recall

Badges are free under warranty, I have had three on the back of the Yeti in 20 months and the Fabia had both changed without asking at the first service.

I am hoping they will get changed for the new style next time I go in.

James!

How old and mileage were/are ur cars when the badges were replaced?

Which dealer?

Cheers!

Yeti has had them replaced a few times, car is 21 months old and mileage is 78K, warranty works for three years or 90k on this one.

Fabia is 2 years old and 7,000 miles.

Dealer is Mitchells in Ellesmere Port.

Yesterday I had a heated seat pad fitted in the Yeti too, all warranty work.

Interesting stuff, James - thanks!

My Superb was out of its 3year warranty coz it did more thn 60k! Eeeek.

So didnt know differ Skoda s had slightly differ t&c for validity of warranty.

Interestingly, would a Skoda get a free badge replacement if out of warranty?

Wot abt if got Extended Warranty?

VOSA won't issue a recall for am issue with badges. They are there for if a recall is required for something potentially "life threatening" which I think we can all agree, badges are not.

Cheers mate for this!

I didnt know.

Just send a letter to your supplying dealer to claim under SOGA. Letter templates are on CAB website. Are you sure you made it clear you are claiming under SOGA NOT warranty?

P.S. You are covered for 6 years under SOGA.

Based on the VOSA website - i assume its NOT a recall.

VOSA only tend to get involved on safety related issues.

Skoda wouldn't issue an official recall for a bonnet badge.

Its VERY confusing.

So was the badge replacement a official Skoda recall then (not VOSA)?

Coz whn i asked my dealer (not supplying dealer):

"Has my car been recalled and what for?"

Dealer: "1 recall for boot badge replacement"

Sales Of Goods Act?

Does that mean i can claim "anything" that suppose to last at least 6 years?

I had mine changed under warranty years ago. Supplying dealer refused so I went somewhere else and got them done

Just replaced all 6 on my 2006. Front, back and alloys. I complained to Skoda UK in writing and as goodwill we settled at I pay £ 21. Not bad for 5 year old car with no extended warranty...

If I was to go in and pay for wheel centres and front and rear badges, what would it cost?

Skoda have a system whereby they can put a marker on the car.

As soon as it appears in their dealer network (when booked in for a service etc.) a message flags up for the dealer to carry out certain remedial work; software updates, to check certain components, replace badges if worn etc.

Not an official recall, more a "check and carry out work if required".
