Pirelli PZ0 215/40ZR17 87W XL

Featured Replies

sorry for another tyre post but...

I am having my front set of tyres replaced, and under the service plan i got with the dealer at purchase of the car, I have been offered the pirelli PZ0 215/40ZR17 87W XL. Will these be an upgrade/equivelent to the Dunlop sport maxx that came standard with the VRS? I found the dunlop sport maxx ok, but i know many othere do not like them, especially the increased road noise, at motorway speed.

Any advise would be appreciated, as i have 4 tyres to be replaced under this service plan

You are going to 215/40/17 rather than the standard size of 205/40/17.

(215's is the size fitted as standard on Polo GTis, & A1 twinchargers)

??? Are you putting the pair of 215's on the front now & leaving 205's on the rear untill the next change.

(probably they will take a long time to wear)

or the new 215's to the rear now & Dunlop rears changed onto the front untill they need changed for new 215's,

(or do you get all 4 tyres changed now?)

I use 215's for my Rain Tyres and they are fine.

(I like my Dunlop 205's for warm weather)

No idea about the Pireili's other than what i read in the reviews with a Google.

? Is it Pirelli 'P Zero Nero' they are offering?

Not cheap tyres, & propably a good offer.

The pirellies are pretty noisey and worse than the yokos i have now in the dry but much better in the wet, the pirellies came with my car and i had to replace the fronts within a year of having the car (no idea how long they had been on before i bought it)

You prefer a wider Tyre in the rain than in the summer George? That don't make no sense

Just checked, 205 as standard... can't remeber what i said over the phone, either 205 or 215? shouldn't be too much of an issue right? I was only going to get the fronts changed,so yea leaving the standard (dunlops 205) on the rear. and yea the lady on the phone said pirelli pz0 but i imagine its the p zero nero...

PITT8ULL,

It might not make sense to you, but then its not you using them,

You might be thinking very wet motorway, or something,

but they are getting used on sprints and hillclimbs and work fine in the wet for all the wet i use them on.

& they are wet weather tyres. Would put them on & would use 205's if they had proved more efficient.

It is not always about theory or others opinions,

or what you read someplace, just what you find works for you really that is important.

I have 205/50/16 for the winter and they are fine.
