Octavia Vrs Opinions

Never been convinced about airbags, especially if you wear a seatbelt. The only time I can see it being an advantage is if the steering column pushes back into the driver's chest. Which it doesn't on most modern cars fitted with airbags...

um airbags.. mine only has 1 now and i m trying to deactivate it?

Mark,

let me guess...happened on the round-about going into Oracle?

Nice 3 lanes filtering down to 2...accident waiting to happen.....errm..well it did happen.

I was hit in the back in my Octy estate by a red Megane.......it would be too much of a coincidence that it was the same lady from Chineham? Her Megane looked as crumpled as the one that hit you.

So you know Reading, then...?

It was at the light controlled exit - she didn't see that her light was red...

If you're local (I'm Burghfield Common) how do you fancy taking a fellow silver vRS owner for a demo of Jabba power? :)

Regards,

Mark

Don't get too hung up on choice of model, engine or colour like many members on this forum! You can have lots of fun in much of the Octavia range - and you don't have to buy a vRS to achieve vRS performance without paying the insurance penalty for that model. I don't think choice of colour has any effect of 0-60 time, whatever others might think, and there are diesel engines in the Octavia line-up which have stonking torque offering ease of driving, excellent acceleration and remarkable fuel economy.

The vast majority of us love our cars. You will too! :D

This was posted because, there is a Monkey Boy who posts on Vauxhall Sites and he is the Editor of Total Vauxhall. So no reason to get all abusive;)

Mark,

Should arrange a Southern meet and then you could get a go in a range of modded cars. Jon, Dave and Lloyd are all "darwn Sarfth".

Why not have a go at arranging one?

Count me in for a southern meet. Why let all the northerners have all the fun :)

So whose going to appoint themselves as Southern Meet Coordinator?

I'm going to take a back seat on this as I already do the coordination with Jabba.;)

Long story with The Family...

I can't take anything like this on-board. I help run the league in my sig and I do a bit of work from time to time for an ASCAR team. I used to get free tickets to ASCAR. I got offered a season pass to Rockingham on Sunday by the driver I do the work for but I've had to turn it down. SWMBO has laid down the law. No more going to races (free entry or not), no more organising anything to do with cars.

So, this meet in Wales...

"Hi, darling. You know that Skoda forum? Well they are having a mee...."

Apparently, this is what it's like being a daddy.

Oh well...

Mark

start saving for a divorce...no woman is worth enduring pain for...

;)

Oh dear :( Fortunately my SO is as much a car nut (now) as I am, so she either comes along or "understands" :)

Mark,

My advice (for what it's worth) is just sit tight for a while. When your children are a little bit older you can get by this by taking them along (which isn't as bad as it might first seem). Fen. Jr. and I are off to Snetterton for the BTCC race in August - first trip to a race meet in ages. If the children are interested in cars then it makes it easier as well.

Cheers,

I'm afraid I generally fall into the same catergory as Mark.:(

Paul starts his advice column in the Sun next week :D :D

And me... but I just start crying... ;)

I'm following Paul's advice :D

LOL!

I took the eldest (4) to an ASCAR event which she quite liked but the worst part is really the drive and queues.

P'raps she'll fair better now I've got that portable DVD rig for the journey, but I've missed out on me season pass...

I am extremely disappointed, but I have no doubt it will get better. The stress of another baby is prolly why Mrs D sounds so much like a dragon at the mo.

FYI - 5 and a half months, very large, very smiley, rarely cries almost going thru the night now but was a nightmare and a half for about the first 3 months...

Regards,

Mark

It will get better, Mark.

As Howard says, once they're older they will (hopefully) show a keen interest to come along. Then the missus will have the house to herself, which wouldn't be the case now. "What are you running off to some race and leave me taking care of the house on my own?" Something like that sound familiar? My wife is a bit like Ian's - she understands, and is pleased to see me enjoy myself - but when our son was still a baby, he was priority number ONE instead of merely priority number one. (And frankly, quite rightly so, as he's had a bad start to his life on which I won't elaborate here.)

As for the Octavia it is more than likely that i will make a purchase as they are quoting me

My brother works for Bentley and as they are know part of the VAG group he and direct family are entitled to a 15% discount on all Audi's, Seat's, Skoda's and VW's.

Going for a test drive on Sunday and to sort out the paperwork as it has to be signed by my brothers manager to say that he does actually work for Bentley.

Quick friendly tip - get the parking sensors :)

Mark
