Front anti roll bar replacement?

Featured Replies

Hello peeps

Had a quick look around and a google and basically wanted to know how easy it is to fit a new front anti roll bar?

The rear one looks pretty easy as there's nothing really in the way but I don't know about the front one....

Do you just unbolt everything it's connected too and pull it out from one side?

Planning on sticking the thickest neuspeed front and rear roll bars on so want the heads up before I part with my cash

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Will also make a guide hopefully if it's not too hard for me to do which will be well and truly in lamens terms

Need to drop the front sub frame

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

I've got those Neuspeed ones on mine mate. For me it was a huge faff trying to get the 25mm front bar in. It's a lot bigger than the standard one in the same gap! Had to pull the hub off on the drivers side to get enough wiggle room. Plus subframe down.

Was worth it for the handling difference though!

as long as you have done the rear aswell then handling will be a lot better.

Also need to get your alignment checked as dropping the subframe can alter this.

So is the subframe hard to get off? is it just undo a few bolts and it'll drop off? if anyone has any pics that would be handy

think bowders has done a rack change guide, in the guide section, here you will be able to see what needs doing.

In essence there are four bolts going through the subframe into the chassis, they need removing (making sure the subframe is supported of course) the steering rack needs disconnecting from the steering column, done inside the car with a bolt.

To take rack off/out and perhaps get enough access to fit the thick neuspeed bar, then undo droplinks from struts, or arb whichever you prefer, then spilt balljoints on the wishbones to the hub.

Whatever you do, make sure you fit both, if you are going for that thickness as the car will be quite unbalanced with one and not the other.

I did mine without removing the steering rack so the alignment would stay the same.

Have had it checked since out of being anal but it doesn't have to come off. Just support the subframe and then you can see how far you can bring the rack down with it.

am not saying for def that you need to remove the column link to change the front arb, but that if you want to drop the subframe you need to remove it.

Undoing the rack link isn't really a problem with alignment anyway, just centre the wheels and the steering wheel itself.

Meant to put in above the tie rod ends need removing from the hub too to drop the rack...knew i forgot something!
