Best place to purchase New Yeti?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am planning on getting a new 1.2TSI DSG Yeti, either with SE spec (with metallic, auto lights to deal with the mirror issue, and bi-xenon lights) or Elegance with metallic. I was inspired by lots of beautiful SMs on this site!

I was wondering how you all ordered your yetis? Did you go through a broker initially e.g. http://www.ukcarbroker.co.uk and then bring this price to a local dealer to try to get them to match it?

I looked at some other brokers e.g. broad speed, carquake, but ukcarbroker seems to be giving the best price. Is there anything I should look out for in particular?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

you need to speak to them personally as most will only offer discounts on certain vehicles, (maybe the Yeti), if they are sold on contract hire, finance lease and similar.

Check if the vehicle is an import or UK supplied vehicle

If it is an import check the exact spec

Check warranty period - UK is 3 years - some imports can be less, i.e. 2 years

Check whether you will be the first registered keeper - nothing wrong with you being the second registered keeper as long as the vehicle has 'delivery miles" and was initially registered in the name of the first registered keeper just before you buy the vehicle.

It is important that you get good title to the vehicle as disclosed on the sales invoice and that you receive the V5 within a reasonable, (the normal) length of time to show the change of owner from the first registered keeper to you.

Ensure that any deposit is paid by credit card to give you extra security and check how the broker "holds" such deposits

Do not be but off by Main dealers telling you that pre registered "delivery miles" vehicles are dodgy - if you buy such a vehicle through a broker you just have to be a little more careful

Thanks for that - I was going to pay up front in cash, and then I found out that the price in ukcarbroker was subject to fleet vehicle and required PCP/personal finance, which I do not need or want. The ukcarbroker chap told me that if I did not want the finance package, then this would increase the prices by 7%, which brings it back into the prices which other dealers have been quoting me.

Currently awaiting other dealers to give me further quotes. Any recommendations on which other dealers to try?

Try Allams at Epsom, Beth or Linda. We had very good service from them.

And me too also - twice!

Something you not letting on there 'aerofurb' :wonder: good to see you still pop in now and again

EDIT  Just looked at your old posts and found you have got a new one, posted when I was in Cuba and I must have not seen it when I was reading through the 3 pages of posts when I returned, hope you are enjoying the new one

Not Australia. Our dealers are hopeless.

Give Carfile a try. I found it very easy to deal with them. Cars are all first registration - they just put you in touch with a dealer who has the car you want. I got a great discount and cannot fault the service.

I have bought via Car file, Drive the deal and other internet companies. I bought my Yeti via the skodastore. Excellent deal. PM for details if you like

What are peoples experiences of AutoeBid for Yetis - they have some very good prices. However, are lead times longer?

We were going to pay cash as well, then found out that the 3 year finance deal came with free servicing, which equates to the interest.

So we opted to keep hold of the cash and use it to drip feed the finance.

Taking Finance did not affect our deal.

I took a DtD price to Lookers Stockport and they matched the price all bar a few quid!

They then gave me £600 of my citigo order as well 5 months later.

Plus you can pay the finance up early and still get the benefit I believe... :)

My dealer also confirmed this but the free servicing does not apply to 4x4 models so a 'no go' for me

this.

but don't you suffer and "interest" penalty when you pay the finance off before the end of the agreed term?

Obviously, yes.

But you can have a small amount on finance to get the service deal and pay it off, meaning the penalty and finance is less than the servicing.

I think you pretty much get what you pay for in this life. it is probably possible to find a dealer somewhere in UK who will offer you a discount on a Yeti thru a broker - because when you go to DtD or Autoebid etc all they are doing is acting as an intermediary between you and a dealer. But you may well find that you go the end of a very long queue.

Personally I went to my nearest Dealer - I got a reasonable discount on the list price - and I took delivery of my new car (1.2 TSI DSG) 2 months after placing the order. I also know that if I have a problem I have just a 10 mile drive to the dealer to sort it out. Yes I know you can take your Skoda into your local dealer if you have a problem, and they are obliged to sort it under the guarantee - but don't tell me they will fall over themselves to help if they know you bought it via the internet from a dealer 300 miles away :giggle:

With the other cars in the Skoda range there is a 'No VAT' offer. Dealers have to pay £1,000 of that discount, and Skoda UK cover the rest. So . . . it ought to be possible to get £1,000 off the price of your Yeti from your local dealer. Also, as the recession deepens and the winter comes on and car sales slacken, and Yeti waiting times get shorter (as I think is beginning to happen) prices should ease and discounts become more widespread even on Yetis.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Yeti added to Skoda's 'No VAT' offer in the foreseeable future - maybe even the next price list. 6 months ago all DSG models were excluded - then in the April price list all DSG models (EXCEPT Yeti) were included.

Interesting post, thanks

I got 14.5% discount in France and I believe 10% to 15% is the norm on new Yeti's, especially if they are in the showroom.

but that's France and LHD and it dose not help you

what kind of discount is available in the UK for a no part ex new vehicle buy - presumably it is 10% for starters?

I did hear that ukcarbroker tend to have pre-reg cars for sale show that the 'new' car's V5 shows the owner to be number 2....

Wakev - keep up, lad! :giggle: TIBET I was reaching the 3 year point so it seemed daft to take up the excellent offer from Allams to trade it in for TIBET II.

No hesitation for me in paying slightly more for the full dealer service over the Amazon approach.... Love Allams
