Autolocking doors and gadgets like it?

On a CANBUS car most of the time you do indeed just tick (or un-tick) the boxes available, but you can enable things that are not fitted to the car, this will then obviously give you an error code - as the hardware is missing.

You can also change codings through the ‘Adaptation’ button, which for example is done by changing the code from 0 (off) to 1 (on).

It i also possible to manually change the Binary code.

The Fabia is also not true CANBUS so from memory (only done a handful of MK2 Fabia’s) still has the code that physically needs to be changed.

The correct codes are given to you by VCDS but it is down to the operator to correctly add or subtract them from the original code.

As you can see there are always ways that the operator can screw it all up if he doesn’t know what he is doing.

Hum this was very interesting.. Then i might have to look for someone who have done this to a Fabia..

The guy i found have only used it on his Golf..

Seems as if i have to go to England to get it properly fixed :D

Could someone help me with some step by step on how to activate "Autolocking doors", beeping when unlocking/locking doors and the sweeping of the needles.

A friend of mine has VCDS cable and Ross-tech software but have never done this on Fabia..

So any help on how to do these changes would be appreciated.

Hi Snowman,

Do you know which version of VCDS?

Assuming its CAN-BUS compatible which it needs to be for the newer fabia it should just be a case of connecting it up choosing the central electrics controller

choose adaptation from the right hand menu and there should be a drop down list of the channels on the controller

I cant remember the exact titles but

Autolocking/unlocking

Confirmation beep on lock/unlock

Should be easy to spot

The instrument panel sweep is called instrument staging and i think it was in the instruments controller rather than central elec

Switch the value of the chanel from 0 to 1

Ill try and check it out tomorrow and get the controler and channel numbers for you if you want?

Once again you are saving me Grantson :D

The guy that i found was so expensive so im better off ordering a cable of my own. So i will order one today. The VCDS version will be the newest off Ross-techs webpage.

If you have the possibility to easily check which controller and the channel numbers it would be very appreciated! :)

Hi Chaps,

I thought it has been said somewhere before, that the Digital kmh reading was a legal requierment as the Analogue speedo doesnt have kmh marked on?

This may be a manufactureing thing, as it makes no diffrence if you are not going to leave the UK? It isnt on my one anyway!

This would be a more lagitimate reason for a dealer to refuse to do it. if its true.

EU rules OK.....

The legal requirement is TO BE ABLE to display both MPH and KPH, this you can still do even after the adaptations.
