Just to give you and idea of what trips our S-Max does

SWMBO uses our's for her childminding business, a couple of times a week it is used for doing school runs to the next village, usually with 6kids (6mile round trip, b roads), SWMBO uses it for college once a week (30 mile round trip, a/b roads), SWMBO uses it for taking the childminding kids out in the holidays (min of 15mile round trip) I use it when I'm working night shifts (34mile round trip, a/b roads), we take our boys swimming on a weekend (20mile round trip a/b roads) and once every other month it will be used to visit family (100mile round trip, the only regular motorway milage it does) & holiday time it does alot more motorway milage.

As you can see, it gets used for alot of short'ish journeys. If possible we use SWMBO's Rav4 2lvvti for the shortest of journeys (we use it in preference to the S-Max) and that has averaged 369689_41.png since we bought it in 2009 and rarely does anything more than a 6mile round trip.

Matt, thanks for your help. I've been out all day looking at S-Maxs. Went to my local used car supermarket who had quite a few but with high mileages and although some titanium's, low spec levels. I then went to my local ford dealer who had one, but another couple were in the process of buying it. Doh! Off I went to get some food and then thought I'd stop by the dealer again just in case. The salesman was literally putting it back on the forecourt so I jumped in, took it for a spin and did a deal. Finance agreed almost immediately and deal was done.

Spec is:- Gold (Not a colour I would have gone for normally but the rest of the car was perfectish), 18" snowflake wheels, sports seats, half leather, Converse+, panoramic roof, front and rear parking sensors, bluetooth, cruise, 57 plate, 66k 2.0tdi 140bhp manual. Also has a towbar they are going to remove for me as I hate it.

On the stereo front, mine has a sony unit, looks like yours but without DAB. I noticed you changed yours to an after market. How did that affect your converse+ kit? Stereo sounded alright but I only have a 3.5mm jack AUX, I'd like USB...

Looking forward to it! Once again thanks for your replies, it really helped me choose this.

No worries, Have just sent you a PM with some info in.

Basically the pre 2008 came without a DAB radio, USB is a possible retrofit , its part of the bluetooth module so with upgrading that you will also gain the ability to stream audio from your phone via BT too.

I went back to the Sony HU as I bought a set of 18" wheels and wanted to buy some tyres for them.

Cambelts should be 10years or 100,000miles :) (from memory)

They are also easy todo a facelift upgrade to the Titanium X-Sport kit ;)
