Is it worth going for a fabia vrs?

Featured Replies

I currently drive a 306 1.9 td (first car, couldnt find anything as cheap to insure)

Whats the chances of getting insured on a vrs as im only 19 with 1 years ncb.

Thanks for the help.

I had a bora 1.6 SE that was £2200 per year 1 year NCB, got a Fabia VRS and that was £1500 for the year with 2 years NCB. I was 20 at the time and had had been getting similar quotes for easily a year.

You could get insurance on a Bentley, if you had the budget.

How much do you want to pay, sure there are some younger vrs drivers on here paying around £1200 iirc

companies will insure you......if you are prepared to pay.

From what i can find on Parkers your 306 will be group 9 insurance with the vrs being 18 so you may struggle

stick your details into comparethe market.com and see what the figures look like

+1 to this, thats what I did

Yes, you need to use insurance compies to find out.

Because people on this forum will be different ages, with different experiences living in different postcodes.

Just too many variables IMO.

I guess if i want a nice car ill have to pay the price :).

Are these relatively quick cars compared to an astra cdti as ive been searching for a diesel and they seem to be reasonably ok.

I'd say performance wise in standard tune the fabia would

keep ahead of the 1.7 td vauxhall and be about equal with

the 1.9 if they put that engine in Astras nowadays?

Not that I could ever condone deliberately buying a Vauxhall

(Just joking Vauxhall owners... Jesus, I bought a Renault so what do I know?)

i'd say fabia would be more reliable than an astra any day. but i guess i'm biased but yes the 1.7 cdti is a turd on wheels. the 1.9 is a turd at the 120. if you go for the astra get the 1.9 cdti 150bhp. but then again if your considering insurance it'll probs be more for the astra than the fabia.

hope it helps.

Thanks for the help mate.

I prefer the looks of the fabia rather than an astra, What are fabias like to drive?

love it, no problems at all even tho it is lowered.

Im 19 with 1 year ncb and it cost me £1900 a couple of month ago on a standard 54 plate vrs :)

I'd say try a few things out first. And make sure you really want a VRS before you buy. If the 306 TD is anything like sporty in the suspension dept, you might not appreciate the standard VRS suspension.

If trying the VRS, consider also the Polo and Ibiza FR.

I like the ibiza fr, but found it was more expensive to insure! :/ and the polo's are under powered unless you find the really rare gt tdi one. which are expensive :/

I'm 21 3yrs ncb live in a high risk area and I pay £2200 no points no convictions everything clean... Just something to think about it can go from 1 extreme to another my mate is 20 3yrs ncb clean license etc... £750 he lives 25miles away from me, me bieng in a Bd(Bradford) post code him being in Wf(Wakefield) postcode hope this helps :)

If i can remember rightly mine was around the £1000 mark with 0 no claims and aged 20. This is with elephant. What helped ALOT was adding my parents as named drivers. (Not main driver as this is fronting lol )

Mine is 8-900 age 19 with 2 years Ncb. That's with admiral and a standard car.

Edit to add: adding my parents as named drivers took about 600 quid off.

I'm with elephant they where the cheapest for me! But still £2.2k lol that's Bradford for ya!! I am a home owner with me and my fiancée on the car if I'd have added my mum or dad o her mum or dad would have risen £400 for me :/ I suppose it all goes down to your area tbh!!!! So if u live in Bradford Birmingham or London be prepared to pay!!! I think my insurance is appalling.

ouch man! im from Hereford, got the SAS aint we ;) haha

Haha we have bmp and people driving round with no insurance crash for cash etc..... FML!! lol.

If there are other cars in the family try admiral multi - separate quotes for 3 cars was £1900 - multi policy came in at £1400, all fully comp -

I pay £1200 fully comp £100 excess no points 3 accidents and im 22

Admiral multi car wanted 3850 for the fabia and my '1.25' mk4 fiesta 'track car'(which is road legal) do I got shut of that rather quickly haha
